When I try to sync now I get a message" the connection between your desktop and handheld computer could not be established". Please check your setup and try again. I checked setup and everything looks ok. Has anyone else had this experience?

What do you have Treo 600 or 650? Did you try to wiggle the sync cable connector?

Its a 650 and wiggiling the cable does not help.

This happened to me earlier this month. The Treo (600/GSM) had been syncing fine, and on a tablet pc which Palm does not support. Then, without rhyme or reason, I started getting that "can't establish connection" message. (Note: in retrospect, this seemed to occur shortly after this month's Win patch/update.) Tried everything, including cleaning the connecting points, uninstall/reinstall, and System Restore. That yielded a "duplicate usernames" error message. Grrr!

Finally, I decided to try a cradle ($10 new, http://www.GetYourTech.com. Try running a search on Treo 650 cradle at ebay/buy-it-now section). While awaiting its arrival, I uninstalled the Palm desktop (again!), going so far as to manually search thru the registry, to ENSURE I killed it all.

When the cradle arrived, I used the Treo CD to reinstall, rebooted (no directions to do so, but seemed wise), then connected the cradle. (Incidentally, I installed into the same directory, also reinstalling some 3rd party apps, such as KeySuite.) Absolutely smooth sailing/syncing ever since, despite the addition of a USB hard drive.

    Go figure.

it did work right? ... there's also an option if not connecting the device to the pc, last resort update the driver... http://www.palmone.com/us/support/ac...winxp_USB.html if using XP

Love is a chemical state of mind that's part of our genes and influenced by our upbringing. We are wired for romance in part because we are supposed to be loving parents who care diligently for our helpless babies.

I'll be d***ned. I tried that frigging driver, and caught even more hell. Which is why I went back to my trusty CD-Rom, bundled with the Treo. But the short answer-- yes, all is well now. Dunno if the cradle was THE cure, but sure looks like it from where I sit. Hey, for $10, it was worth it!
