    hi

The ultimate headset button utility for the Treo600/650. magicButton is a clever utility designed for the TreoŽ 600/650 to control PocketTunes(tm), Dial phone numbers and launch application using the headset button at any time.

magicButton is also integrated with PocketTunes to pause the song if there is an incoming call or when you make a call and unpause after you hang up the call. You can even set magicButton to auto answer the incoming call. You can safely use magicButton to dial your favorite phone numbers while you are driving or launch any defined application.

Would you please explain a little more about this application. There is not much information at the link. How do you dial a phone number with a headset button?

its in the manual Just set the default profile to "Dial Phone" then set the Setup button and add your phone numbers to dial.

once you have done that just press the button numbers associated to the phone number. eg: press button once to dial the first, pressed twice to dial the second number .....

I just downloaded the trial and am reading the manual. If that app works as described, I may move to Canada just to be close to the geniuses who came up with this.

    Here goes........

Headset Control is another new app that does some similar stuff.

Get your facts straight before you start accusing. Freedom has this feature since last year. magicButton has features headsetcontrol can only imagine. do you ever think that people might copy Freedom?

    Easy on the name calling.

Learn how to fix bugs in your software and then MAYBE you'll have good products...originality aside.

I think smiley88 was well within bounds to defend his program in this way. Someone was accusing him of copying someone else's work when in essence his program has been around for awhile. He has now just added some features. Also, you should try using magicbutton, it is awesome to use while working out. Thanks Smiley for your work and support.

Defend is one thing. Name calling is totally different.

It was probably an honest mistake by Jo, based on this thread:

    Sigh...

I'm quite sad to see this happen. Normally, I might understand smiley's position, but obviously he has no problem accusing me of copying Freedom. He has done it twice. Once in this thread (the "people" reference), and once in the HeadsetControl thread. I was willing to let it go once (I really have no desire to get into a shouting match), but after this time, I felt I had to respond.

You may or may not believe this, but I didn't know Freedom gave this functionality. I had seen Freedom a long time ago (maybe a year ago?), but I saw it as an application to reroute the audio to whatever output you wanted to. Even if you don't believe that, if you look at the differences between Freedom and HeadsetControl, I call that INNOVATION, not copying. Had you came out with magicButton two months ago, honestly, I probably never would have developed my application.

With that said, I invite everyone to try out both magicButton and HeadsetControl. Competition is always good for the consumers, and I personally have no problem with it.

smiley, this is the first and will be the last time I respond to your comments on TreoCentral. That is unless you want to discuss things on a more professional basis.

I'm stunned that any vendor would use the term "*****" with a potential customer, regardless of who was right or wrong. The customer is always right, I've always heard...

Although if you think your customers are idiots, it might make supporting your product easier. "If you are an *****, please press zero and you'll be disconnected; otherwise wait on the line and someone will be with you shortly"

Well, the most straightforward way would be something along these lines:
    1. Hotsync your device
    2. Rename your desktop /Palm/<username>/Backup directory (to, say, Backup.OLD)
    3. Hard reset your device
    4. Hotsync - this will load just your PIM data (no 3rd party software)
    5. Install PTunes and Headsetcontrol and test.

If they work at that point, then you know it was conflict with another app causing the problem. Add back your apps, one or two at a time, testing PTunes and Headsetcontrol after each install.
