Device: Treo 650 with 14.4 MB Full of Data in RAM, VZW B, 1.03
    Backup Program: BBVFS 3.1.4
SD Card 1: Sandisk 32MB "Regular" - Backup Time: 3:00
SD Card 2: Sandisk 512MB "Ultra II" - Backup Time: 1:53
    Timer Used: Casio Stopwatch
(Both SD Cards freshly formatted before Backup)

Yes, yes I know that this is not a true apples-to-apples comparison because of the MB size differential between the cards, but it's nice to see that the Ultra II performs at almost twice the speed of the regular Sandisk cards in a REAL WORLD test.

It's only about 60% faster - in seconds, 180 seconds versus 113 seconds.

How did you figure that one out Genius?

    32M @ 180sec
    512M @ 113sec
    ooonly 60% faster?

    32M of 512M = 7.06sec
    so,
    32M @ 180sec
    32M (512) @ 7.06sec
just a liiittly faster than 60%

Where are you getting 7 seconds from? From what I can tell the person was backing up the same amount of data both times. got 3mins on the regular card and just under 2 mins on the Ultra II card. Seems like just about 30% faster to me. certainly not twice as fast.

My math skillz are a little rusty, but me thinks you can either say:

the 32MB card is 60% slower than the other card
    or
the 512MB card is 37% faster than the other card

    1. the 32MB cards are gone - gave them away.
    2. i heard the VFSmark apps are dated and not very accurate on the new devices.
    3. i don't feel like doing any more testing.

let's end the bickering and just say that the "Ultra II" Cards are "significantly" fatser than the regular Sandisk cards. they're not that expensive either - special at Circus City this week:

    SanDisk 512MB Ultra® II SD™ Card (SDSDH-512-901)
    SDK SDSDH512901
    Price was: $74.99
    You save: -$13.00
    You pay: $61.99
    Mail-in rebate(s): -$12.00
    Price after rebate(s):
    $49.99

With this special/rebate, the Sandisk "Ultra II" 512MB cards are about $15 CHEAPER than the "regular" Sandisk 512MB cards! It's a no-brainer! I bought TWO!

    SanDisk 512MB SD™ Card (SDSDB-512-768)
    SDK SDSDB512768
    $64.99
