To celebrate the impending release of ChatterEmail 1.1, I am making a special offer to registered users of SnapperMail Enterprise Edition (SEE). From now until September 15, 2005, I will discount ChatterEmail for these users to $25, from the current price of $32 (and rising to $39 on September 15, 2005). Lifetime upgrades are free, with the exceptions indicated in the FAQ at www.chatteremail.com (basically, for plug-ins providing new functionality).

To take advantage of this offer, purchasers must buy the ChatterEmail license at the regular $32 price before September 15, 2005 and then send an email to chatteremail@imap.cc with their SEE registration number or other registration documentation. Upon receipt of adequate documentation, I will refund $7 back to your PayPal account.

SEE users who purchased ChatterEmail on or after August 15, 2005 can also receive the $7 rebate by sending me the same information, along with some proof of ChatterEmail purchase.

    Thanks!

    Marc

p.s. I recommend that new users start with the Beta version of ChatterEmail, even though some of the newer features aren't yet documented (e.g. SD card support). There are plenty of existing users at treocentral.com who can help with questions; please post these questions in the ChatterEmail forum to avoid cluttering up the Communications forum.

Sweet! I just bought Chatter and moved over from Snapper!!!

Is there a definitive answer to missed calls with this? I am a snapper ent user, and chatter is intriguing, but, if I end up missing calls, that is going to be a problem.

got-hosting - You will miss calls with EVERY app that uses data, assuming you're on a CDMA phone (Sprint/Verizon), and that includes Snapper (this problem is largely mitigated on GSM phones).

Chatter has a large variety of sync options built in (push, sms-trigger, timed, and manual), so you can certainly guarantee it's no worse than Snapper in this regard. There's a comparison of features on the front page of www.chatteremail.com, btw.

    Marc,

Sweet deal...though I realize I only have the Snapper Premier (POP3 only) version (would have got Snapper Enterprise (IMAP) if I had known about FastMail months ago) How many people here use--or used to use--Snapper Premire?

    Marc,
I qualify for the refund, and I was wondering if you would consider sending my $7 to some group working with Katrina relief? I will send you my info when I get home this evening.

Excellent program! Thanks for the great work!

Kev, I was a Snapper Premier user. I was happy with it, but Chatter was better so I switched and deleted Snappermail.

Geez, Marc. I've been with SnapperMail from the start (Free Lifetime Upgrades, etc.), but your progress on fixing things that the SM guys have always said are unfixable...is wearing me down. I think I'll have to go ahead and take you up on your offer; I don't know when I'll actually hang it up with Snapper and start using Chatter, but I'm pretty sure I will...eventually.

Bill... I still have my lifetime SM upgrades... but I long ago wiped it off and use Chatter exclusively now. Put them both on for awhile (if you have space) and you'll find yourself using Chatter more and more and Snapper less and less.

    Marc,

I would like of make use of this offer, as I currently have an issue with both Snappermail and Versamail when fetching IMAP mail from a MailEnable Enterprise server (with all latest patches installed). I tried Chatter last night, and it seems to have a problem with MailEnable also. Funny thing is that I have no issues fetching email from MailEnable via IMAP with Outlook or Outlook Express.

    - With Versamail, Plain Text emails come in fine, but HTML and RTF emails (multi-part/MIME) come in with the email body as MIME attachments that I can not open.
    - With Snappermail, fetching HTML and RTF emails via IMAP gives a "protocol error", for which I can not get additional info.
    - With Chatter, it just keeps on trying to get the mail, with the status alternating between "Wait" and "Connect", but nothing comes in.

Anyway, Chatter seems to have better logging capabilities. If I buy the Chatter license, do you think that your log files might indicate what this protocol problem is?

Mobidutch: just try the demo and give yourself a couple of weeks to work it out. You can create a log and Marc will look at it. He is interested in making it work for you (I don't think he has the word 'no' in his vocab...hence his constant working to put upgrades and new ideas into his program.) Either way, you can download the demo and get it working with his help to convince you its worth the money to buy it.

mobidutch - There have been issues with MailEnable's IMAP server; however, I know that there has been a recent fix (instigated by me and a Chatter user), so make sure you have the latest version.

And yes, a log would indicate the problem.

OK great, I will give that a shot.

My provider (Ecenica) has applied the latest IMAP hotfix, dated August 20. The problems started occuring after a May 30, 2005 hotfix was applied that was supposed to FIX some IMAP issues, go figure.

Wait-a-minute...I think I am doing some serious thread hijacking here. Have more questions but will post separate thread.

    CRAP!

I just bought Chatter Last week and I was a Snappermail Enterprise user, I should have waited!

Well it is worth the $32 anyway, I don't regret the purchase!

I just made the switch to Chatter for the background operation alone. I was taking photos of my wife's graduation for my SplashBlog and as luck would have it SnapperMail checked my mail at the same time she was on stage. By the time I cancelled out the operation, the moment was over. It's kind of funny and sad at the same time I love Chatter so far. Works great with Fastmail.

I'm a Snapper Premiere user. I didn't need the IMAP features of Enterprise, since I only use Snapper with my home (Adelphia) account. I use Sprint Business Connection (aka Seven) for my corporate email.

I've been intrigued with trying out the Chatter beta for a while, but I just don't have any problems with Snapper and my home account.
    I'm back!
