Now that MobiTV is out of beta and available (see

    http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...&postcount=431 )

Lets's start a new thread about using it.

Q1. Can MobiTV be installed on the SD card? The installer, even when run from the card, installs MobiTV application in the RAM. Can it be copied to the card and deleted from RAM?

Q2 Which files are a part of the final MobiTV application? Which ones of these can reside on the SD card?

Q3. What creatorID's are used by MobiTV and it's components?

Q4. Is there a trial period during which I can watch the regular channels (instead of the MobiTv ad repeted endlessly on it's demo channel)?

More questions to follow (after I actually start using the application)!!

    More questions:

Shouldn't GSM phones be able to interrupt MobiTV and allow incoming calls?

I amtrying the Demo channel on a Cingular Treo650, and the results are inconsistant:

once, the caller heard the ringing for ever (never switched to voicemail)

once it did break through and interrupted the streaming (although it might have been buffereing at that time with error 404

once it went to voicemail in 1 ring, like the Treo was busy.

    What should it be doing?

With the beta I installed to RAM and moved to the SD card with zLauncher. Worked fine.

From what I can tell these are on the SD (when moved with zLauncher):
    defaults.chunk.pdb
    MobiTV.prc
    pnoJpegLib.prc
    vars.chunk.pdb

MbTV is the only one I know of
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

I installed a purchased copy to RAM and moved it to the SD card with PowerRun. It too appears to be working fine.

GSM phones are much better than CDMA phones about handling incoming phone calls during data connections, but apparently they still can't get a signal through during a streaming data connection. Even on a GSM phone when PTunes is streaming calls will typically go to voicemail.

This is the coolest program ever. I am using it on Treo 650 with Sprint.
I just wish they would add Fox News and G4TechTV to the Sprint lineup!!
Anybody have any details regarding this?

When installing, I hotsynced the Mobitv_installer.prc to the SD card and ran it from there to install.

Do I still need that file? I notice that the attribute of that file (from Resco Explorer) is
    Backup; Copy Protect; Resource DB

That makes me nervous about deleting it. Why is it copy protected? and a ResourceDB (whatever that means)?

Your best bet is to install it to RAM and use Powerrun or Zlauncher to move it to the card after you run it on your Treo. This will pull all the files over to the SD card for you.

I moved mine (copy followed by delete) using the standard Palm Applications. Seems to be fine running from the card that way.

The $10 is a one time fee? Not a recurring monthly fee like it is on other phones?

$10 a month seems a bit expensive to me for this service

Is there a trial version that I can test for free?

I agree, but I'm sure they're charged for the rights to rebroadcast each channel.

Even so, we have it better than most other cell phone users... they've got to pay the $10/month for MobiTV plus $20/month for unlimited data... I don't think most 'normal' cell phone users would already have an unlimited data plan like we Treo types do

I would consider paying $3 a month, but not $10.
    Palm V-->Visor Deluxe-->Visor Prism-->Visorphone-->Treo 180-->Treo 600-->Treo 650 on Sprint-->Treo 700p-->Centro-->Diamond-->Pre-->HTC EVO 4g???!

I agree something like $3 sounds reasonable, for me it would really just be the cool factor.
