Hi, I hope someone can help with my question. I have a Treo 650 in the UK on the Orange Network. I sync with my Mac regularly, I have my Calendar/Contact/Memos backed up on Palm desktop. I have also installed Docs to Go so the documents are also backed up on the Mac.

Today the phone element of my Treo stopped working, it rings but I can't answer or make calls, there is just no sound. The sound is switched on on the outer control of the handset and the profiles but just no sound!

Orange will replace the handset for me tomorrow morning, so no worries since its all backed up on the Mac but are the SMS messages backed up too?

I know there are different categories (Inbox/Outbox/Drafts/Templates/Sent/Saved) can anyone tell me if these are hidden somewhere on my hard drive and will reappear when I get a new Treo 650, or maybe they are on the Sim card?

Most of the messages I want to keep are in Chat form. Is there a way of saving them?

    Thanks a lot.

Your SMS conversations are kept in the Messages_Database.pdb file; it's backed up to your desktop machine during HotSync and should be restored to a new, blank T650 when you first sync it.
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

    Bill,
I see that you are knowledgable on sync of SMS messages among many other things. I have a treo 600 with verizon service and am having trouble finding the proper sync settings to have my handheld overwrite or sync with the desktop for SMS messages (inbox and sent messages). I tried switching the system sync to 'do nothing' and that did not work. I tried locking each SMS message but that did not work. Can you give guidance on how to fix this?

Your System conduit should be set to, "Handheld overwrites desktop".
