I just got my Treo a few weeks ago and have been using 2Day and TakePHONE for most of that. The products are great enhancements to the built-in 650 apps.

A few suggestions (I'm sure not everyone uses the apps the same way so everyone should comment):

    2day
    - add the option to keep the status bar (with notification icons and battery meter, etc.) and plug-in bar static when scrolling down so they stay on the screen at all times.
    - add a # indicator for missed calls and voicemails (just like the volume indicator)
    - Option to remove the icons in the calendar list to allow for more room for the title.
    - Option for 2-line calendar display that shows the location on the second line. I use the location a lot for the dial info and would like to just tap the telephone number to call in rather than scrolling down, clicking on it and then scrolling again to the notes area and selecting. e.g.

    Conference Call
(212.555.1212) ... tapping the number would start dialing.

    TakePHONE
    - take over the missed calls and voicemail alerts of the 650. The little '*' Treo snowflake shows up even if you set TakePHONE to show & handle VM. It's a small thing, but big annoyance to have to clear both.

The app functions great (by far the best of all today and launcher-type products), but I would also love to see some look and feel enhancements with color/layout (I think Facer does a great job with that).

There's not many improvements I can suggest. Thanks for the apps!

    Hi,

Seven should be supported - you have to make sure it's selected as the system "Default application" for emails.

Large fonts on plugins - will try to add this sometime soon.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I think I have a fix for this.

How is the app called (e.g. in the "Default applications" system prefs) -
is it "Seven" or "BizCon") ?

    Shimon,

I would kiss you full-on on the lips if you could make takePhone take over the redundant "Missed Call" and Voicemail alerts.

    Well, not really. ;-)

If you could make it keep track of HOW MANY voicemails are waiting, well, that would be icing on the cake. Not like you don't have a million other things to do...

Ok here one for takePhone is there a way when a call come in and it is someone that is in your contact list that you could hit a button or something on the screen that you let you see there whole listing. So you could tell if you had the right address or anything that was listed in there listing. By the way I love takephone so much that I bought a copy for my dad for father day.

Does the "SEVEN" monitoring also work for the Yahoo email application which Sprint sells as an alternative to SPCS? If not, could you add in Yahoo Mail as another monitoring option? Thanks.

    Hi,

TAKEphONE does not handle incoming calls right now.
I might add this in the futute, but cant tell if/when.

    Sorry...

    Hi,

Well - its a different app...
Problem is I would need to install an active application to work on, but cant get it, since I am not a Sprint customer...

Does it work in the background ?
Does it have an "Alert" option ?

Two items on my wish list:
    - Add an "exclusion list" of contact Categories whose visibility could be toggled on/off from a menu item. If "off", the selected categories would not appear in the categories drop-down, and contacts assigned to those categories would not be returned in the searches. I would LOOOOVE to have this feature, because I accumulate masses of business contacts with whom I communicate very rarely, but whose contact info I occasionally need (e.g. passing to someone else).

    - Make "Send Contact" via Messaging actually work! I know this is not a TakePhone problem, but it'd be a great way to patch Palm's bug. IF (this may be a big if) the Palm API supports it, could you add a separate "Send Contact via SMS" menu item that directly opens the Messaging app, creates a new blank SMS, and writes out the contact info in vcard format?

Both of these features, to my knowledge, would be one-of-a-kind, and would make TakePhone just that much more appealing to new users. Not even regular phones or Windows phones support the ability to hide multiple categories of contacts. And if you made Send Contact work, you'd be the only game in town for people who need to send contact info around frequently.

Hi Shimon, I purchased TAKEPhone a few months ago and have been pretty happy with it, but there is one particular feature which I find continually annoying and would appreciate you addressing...

I use my mobile for personal use, not business, and 99% of the time when I type in a number and I want to save it, I want to store it as a "mobile" number, but TAKEPhone defaults to putting the number in the "Work" field on the "Add new record" screen, so I have to tap the "Work" field name and select "Mobile" every time! Often I forget, so I can't pick the contact/number from the list in the SMS app until I edit the record and change the field type to "Mobile". This then leaves me with two "Mobile" fields (one populated, one empty - unless I change the other one to "Work"), which is rather pointless! It goes without saying that TAKEPhone's implementation is a definite improvement over PalmOne's Phone app (which adds saved numbers as "Work" numbers without giving you any choice at all), but it's not ideal.

However, this can easily be resolved by adding an option in the preferences which would allow the user to preset the default fields (both fields in the upper half of the "Add new record" dialog) when creating a contact - this would make me (and I suspect many other users) happy without affecting users who are content with the present implementation.

I hope you can accomodate this modest request, thanks in advance!

    Hi,

To be honest - I also complained (to myself...) about that "Save..." thing not defaulting to mobile.
    I will fix this.

Regarding the two other suggestions - the categories filtering has come up, and I do plan to do that.

The SMS thing may be a bit harder, will check it out.

    Thanks !

    Shimon,

Have you given any thought to integrating some enhanced call filtering and rejection? It seems that Mantragroup and Velocityware have dropped plans to support the Treo 650. Here are the features that would be good:

Immediate Redirect -> voicemail (with no ring)
Silence ringer/vibrator (don't let them know they're being ignored)
Pickup-and-hangup (for those really annoying bastards you don't want to talk to)

It would also be good to have the above controls on "Unknown" or "No Caller ID" calls.

What would even be neater is to be able to play a special message for (say) unknown callers: "We don't accept calls from unknown callers... please re-enable your callerID and try again...goodbye <click>"

Treo 650 API may not support that, though.

One consideration: the Treo 650 behaves differently depending on the position of the switch-on-the-top (loud / silent). That seems to have been a stumbling block for Mantragroup (or so I am told).

    Hi,

This is a point that keeps popping up.
My thought on the subject are -
TAKEphONE was designed to handle OUTGOING calls, and I think it does that well.
I think handling of incoming calls would add complexity (and size), that may not be desired by the avarage TAKEphONE user.
While I do consider creating a solution for incoming calls, I believe I would make it a different product.

    Thanks.

Shimon, I see that the latest beta has the feature I requested (although I haven't been able to test it on my phone yet - I'll have to wait until I get home). Thanks!
