I have ordered a new treo from Verizon wireless. I now have a dell axim x50 and I am tired of having two devices on my hip.. I will greatly appreciate having the pda and phone all in oone and the web connection should also be a big improvement. I have my e-mail account on hotmail which is synced to my outlook on my computer. I dont really use the outlook much and am probably what would be called a mini user reather than a power user. Will I have problems getting my messages pushed to the treo from hotmail? I'm pretty excited as I am very busy with construction work and the treo will aloow me to do more things fromt the field rather than the office. especially with mnore and more clients prefering e-mail over other forms of communication. Also the bluetooth will be nice in the truckas I get in and out of the truck many times a day and if I want to use my headset i have to plug and unplug again and again. I really dont use many of the functions of the x50v and am sure it is more pda than i really need . I just use the calender and contacts mainly. play games once in a great while.. The mp3 of the treo may be a nice addition I think. Any ways i digress. Just worried I might have to start a pop email account and give all my contacts a new email address.

The IzyMail service will allow you to get and send your Hotmail from your Treo as if it were a regular POP3 account.

Thanks , this looks good and not too expensive. I did do a search...duh and found out about the fusemail option also. Any thoughts of benfits of either.. I really dont need to much but will probably morph into a more informed user over time

Sorry, I've never needed to POP Hotmail; I've no experience with either solution, I'm afraid.

    Get a free fastmail account:

    http://www.fastmail.fm/

You can then pop hotmail for free using your hotmail account and then use an IMAP capable email client like versamail (included) to download your hotmail directly to the Treo. Also, if you have Chattermail, you can then push your hotmail directly to the Treo!!! l I do this all the time!

Finally another option is to just use the mobile web url:

    http://mobile.msn.com/hm/folder.aspx

Does any know how to set up versa mail using hotmail as you email address. I can't seem to find the incoming mail server info. I tried hotmail support, but of course... no reply.

    THanks

HoTMaiL doesn't allow normal POP3 access. Either use a product like IzyMail to gain access, or use HoTMaiL's web portal at http://mobile.msn.com/hm/folder.aspx.

    Greetings...

While not new to these types of forums...am totally noobie on this one, I'm a tech with D-1 and since I am new with the company am not as familiar with the Treo's as I would like to be...however...now that i've found THIS PLACE... MUWWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHAAAAA...!!!

Anyhoo...I am at work and don't have the time I would usually take to peruse the threads to find an answer to my question so I'll just go ahead and ask.

I have a customer who is trying to set up his Hotmail account on his 650...what would the incoming and outgoing server settings be for Hotmail...???

    Thanks.

Not really do able. Best bet is to try the mobile version of the MSN website.

You can do something like get a Fusemail.com email account, and have it POP hotmail, and then use you email client if you really need to.

I just tried Izymail for my unpaid hotmail account and I had to download an app onto my pc and do the settings from there. Now two things:
    1. Does it run from my PC? Do I have to keep my PC on?
    2. I'm using it with Chatter. Anybody? and it keeps connecting and loading more messages and it doens't want to stop. What's up with that?

    Thanks,

    Al

IMHO, Izymail is an evil thing. I strongly recommend against its use.

It says that it works with Snappermail, Agendus and many others..

Any other alternatives similar to izymail?

There isn't any! Hotmail does give pop3/IMAP access b/c it is based on a different web based protocol called HTTPmail. M$ would rather you pay extra $$ just so you can sync with Outlook and that's all!

The only work around is to use 3rd party mail services like Fastmail.fm that can pop hotmail for you. Fastmail account is free and via IMAP and chatter, you can puch your hotmail directly to your treo fyi...

treolo - It "works" with Chatter, too, depending on how you define "work". It SIMULATES an IMAP server, for example, so it is DOG SLOW. It also doesn't support a number of IMAP features, if memory serves. My experience with it was GODAWFUL.
