My Treo 650 ROW 1.13/1.28 has the following problem:

    Calendar alarms don't go off

The Treo powers on at the planned time, but no popup
message and no alarm for calendar entries.

The only things i updated recently are Ptunes an RescoExplorer.

Calendar alarms entered on the Treo work.

Calendar alarms synced from Lotus Notes do not !

    Any idea ?

Eheheh ... I set my alarm the other day but left the slider on 'silent' ... d'oh!

I would be happy if it was that simple

No, no the slider is not set to mute.

Ugh. I really must get used to this 'silent' mode ... my SE T610 would still alarm even if switched to the 'silent' profile ... handy for late/big nights and forgetful alarming.

    Hi Calico!

Do the calendar event alarms synced from Lotus show the alarm icon when they come through to the Treo? As you have noted, it apears the "alarm" piece of the event is not making it down to the Treo.

Yes, the synced alarms show the clock icon as usual.

If modified on the Treo all works fine.

Is there any limitation for syncing calendar events ?

I sync to the Palm Desktop and all my alarmed calendar events come through to the Treo just fine. How do you sync to Lotus Notes? It appears that there is a limitation there or a conduit is not set correctly.

I did a search on "Lotus Notes alarms" and came up with this thread. Apparently this gentleman had a problem with alarms "pushing" through, as well.

calico, are you using any 3rd party PIM - like DateBk5 or Agendus?

I sync calendar and tasks with Lotus Notes since moths now, without problems. The rest is also synced with palm desktop.

Some days ago this syncing problem began. When i do a soft reset,
also synced alarms work.......until i sync again.

Looks really as if there is a limit in the Lotus Notes conduit we're using here
    (OneBridge desktop connector).

If all worked fine until a few days ago . . . . . I suspect something has changed to inhibit the process. You mention that you updated pTunes and RescoExxplorer. Did they do anything to change the Lotus Notes setup you have?

I will wait for Bill Gamble to chime in again, but you may have to remove pTunes and RescoExplorer from your Treo and backup folder to see if those updates were the problem. . . .

I agree with what I think is Perry's suspicion, that it's something to do with your Treo's setup, and not the server - because, from what you say, if you just follow every HotSync with a soft reset, everything works. You need to find out what's "clogging the system" after each Hotsync.

Try his suggestion of removing the last two things you've installed; if that doesn't change things (ie, a soft reset is still required after hotsync to allow Lotus-created alarms), then stronger drink is required:

My favorite method has always been to perform a hard reset, rename the backup folder and HotSync. That'll load your PIM data without any 3rd party software; if all is ok, then you know it's one of your 3rd party apps that's the problem...then it's just a matter of trial and error to discover the culprit.

    Calico, any luck yet?
  14.    #14
    Hi Perry

    No, unfortunately no luck
I did a hard reset and began from scratch, installed only
    the Notes sync software.
I placed a calendar alarm, synced, waited ---> same problem

Before i began i cleared alle my backup and archive files from the hotsync
    directory.

After a soft reset all alarms work normally (until i sync again).

At the moment, i've no idea left, restored my device .......

Sorry Calico, I'm stumped as well. If a clean Treo (PIM data only after a hard reset and the backup folder renamed to get no 3rd party apps restored), with only the Notes software restored still has the problem. . . . .

Can you test your Treo "totally" clean? Hard reset and resync to a test userid, so you get no data on the Treo, install the Notes software and then send a test entry down to it. If this fails -- then it is a failure of the Lotus (mainframe) database or the Notes conduit you are installing. If this works -- something is still amiss with your PIM data or settings on the Treo that will have to be found.

Hey Bill, could a corrupt contact be a problem here?

    Cheers, Perry

I don't think so; it seems related to the Treo-side Notes software.

Things aren't all bad, though - he seems to have a dependable workaround: perform a soft reset after each Hotsync.

Bill, you're right. At least this workaround helps me at the moment.
Many thanks for your ideas. I'll post it here if i find a reason/solution for this.

    My final Test:

    - Cleared hotsync profil on the PC
    - Hard reset the Treo
    - Installed Lotus Notes conduit software
    - Made 2 calendar entries with alarm in Notes
    - Synced the calendar to the Treo

--> First alarm does not go off

    - Soft reset

    --> Second alarm works !!

The whole procedure was done without hotsync function.
So the Treo was clean and nothing could be restored from
PC side. No third party software was installed.

    Conclusion:

As the Notes conduit was not changed and worked fine until
some days ago it must be a calendar entry interfering with the
    alarming function.

Maybe i'll find this entry anytime. Till then, soft reset after syncing
    and it works for me.
