I'm having some difficult connectivity issues with my Treo 650 (GSM, Cingular-Blue, unlocked) and hoped somebody might have some solutions. Here is my problem:

Have had the item for four weeks. In the first three weeks I was sucessfully running chatter (via fusemail) as a push solution. All programs seemed to work fine, connectivity among all programs (blazer, verichat, worldmate, etc)was a non-issue. Roughly a week ago, I started to receive "wait" messages from chatter (it would only sporadically connect ever 2 hours maybe). Additionally, worldmate, and verchat are having issues connecting. Please keep in mind that I have not made any changes to my network profile. I have called AT&T, contacted chatter, and contacted fusemail, all of whom don't find the problem to be on their end. Having given up hope, I hard reset the device last night and spend a few hours re-installing. GREAT! or so I thought. I worked perfectly all night. I shut it down, went to sleep. When I woke up, I was back to having the same issue.

I ran a backup (Backup Buddy) right after the re-install. I have already done a full restore and the issue still persists. I am at a complete loss as to why I am experiencing these issue. I don't know if this factor makes a difference, but I am using an unlocked Cingular branded Treo 650 on the CNB network. If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it. I'm completely stumped.

I whould note that I am using an unlimited mmode connection (not pda connect) with (proxy) in the apn. I contacted AT&T tech support who had stated he did not think that would create an issue.

    Thanks

P.S. I forgot to add...blazer always seems to have connectivity regardless of the connection issues for other programs. Go figure..

Search for resetnetlib.prc here. It was an application to reset all aspects of networking. It is at Doomsey's web site.

Try running that and see if that allows you to connect successfully.

Some networking information is on the SIM. Do a SIM swap to see if that fixes anything.

May be a SIM tray problem too. This is a HUGE problem right now with GSM phones and Cingular in particular. Short of getting a free tray replacement, take out your SIMtray and then take the SIM card out of the tray. Then put 3 layers of scotch tape on the back of the SIM card. Now replace the SIM card into the SIM tray and then put the SIM tray back into the Treo. I'll bet the problem stops.

I have a similar setup (Cingular Blue) and I have been having the same problems. I have only seen this issue with Chatter. I own Snappermail and it has always worked. I attribute it to using Chatter Betas. My problems started with B44 and has been on and off since then. I am currently running 1.1B1 and it seems to work fine. I do notice that if I reset my 650, the first connect takes forever and then it is fine. I use doorhost.net for my domain hosting and imap servers. I have not talked to doorhost, but Snapper will connect 100% of the time, even when Chatter won't.

Or, wait until I'm below the window and yell, "Let 'er rip".

    Two facts here are important:
    1. The problem persists after a hard reset followed by a full restore of all apps
    2. Other internet-using apps (Blazer) do not have a problem

This points to a problem with either Chatter or a software conflict between one or more apps and Chatter. The next step should be a hard reset and the reinstallation of nothing but your Chatter setup; if this is still problematic, perform another hard reset and install the latest version of Chatter.

If Chatter then begins to work again correctly, you can start slowly reintroducing your other apps to the Treo - all the while, watching for the problem's reappearance.
