    Hi!

I was trying out some forms designing and database tools when suddenly my TREO 650 rebooted yesterday morning and has not been able to hotsynch since. Worse, the HotSynch icon has disappeared from the system tray.

I do hear the connecting sound on the desktop when I push the hotsynch button on the USB cable but nothing shows up either on the desktop or the TREO. Eventually the TREO reports back that it was not able to connect to the desktop.

I connect from the TREO 650 with the USB cable to the desktop and after attempting, it makes the same sound it always has when the TREO hotsynchs.

I called support at 866-818-1944, and they walked me through a total re-install of the palmOne application.

When that didn't fix they the problem, they said it's a problem with my desktop machine.

Someone else suggested cleaning the connectors on the bottom of the TREO with alcohol which I tried unsuccessfully.

It might be a cable but since it is making "some connection" I didn't know how liklely that was.

Any other suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!! :

    Thanks!

Go to Start > All Programs > PalmOne > HotSync Manager. This should put the HotSync icon back in your system tray & you should be ready to go.

Even without HotSync running the Treo will try to connect, causing your pc to make the same sounds it always makes when you connect a usb device. Good luck!

I wish it was that simple...Hot Synch wont re-start even when launching it from Start->Programs.

As you suggested, it may be an issue on the PC. Do you have Norton Utilities? You may have a cross referenced file on the PC that is keeping Hot Sync from running. Norton has several utilities to help identify and correct these situations. . .

I have a couple of their products...which utility would you suggest I try? I had to uninstall their internet security 2005 package.

I am not at home, but I believe under the Utility section is something called WinDoctor. This program checks for the cross referenced files. . . .

As well, I would reboot after WinDoctor is done correcting any found errors. . . . .
