it would be cool if we had a java based program that could play on one or more popular chess servers, the app 'chesseverywhere' did this but it doesnt not work anymore because the company pulled support for it..a developer would only have to make the app compatible with free chess servers so as not to be hung down with monthly usage fees....i'm suprised this isnt available for the t650 as it is for far less inferior phones( i played on freechess.net from my friend's regular nokia, and my other friend has a regular samsung that he plays chess on wirelessly)i would be willing to pay around 20-30$ for such an app, i didnt realize how much i missed it until chesseverywhere went 'down under'....will a developer at least consider this or point me in the right direction ......??
p.s. although 'chesseverywhere' wasnt java-based,i think it would be a better "feel" to have a java_based chess app,i just liked the way it 'felt' on my friends phone.

Are you sure the dev stopped supports chesseverywhere cuz it's stilled on handango:

    http://www.handango.com/PlatformProd...t%5B1%5D_title

Anyway, there also an ancient app called chess client, but it hasn't been updated in ages:

    http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fu...=1&prodID=3213

Anyway, that's probably not what your looking for anyway...

So while searching for a java chees midlets, I came across this one callled Network Mobile Chess:

I converted the jad file to prc and attached it below. I haven't tried it yet myself, so let me know it works! (Note: remember to install java plugin)

thanks gfunk for the info, yeah handango has the chesseverywhere on there site, but the app doesn't work. for anyone who want to try it,this is the response I got from the developer when mines stop working:"...we're going to pull support for chesseverywhere at the end of july, and the app will stop working shortly there after....we apoligize for this,we're willing to give you a refund for your inconvience...". I forwarded this email to handango a month ago,but they still have it on there website, and I already have chess client ,although I can link to a chess server, and see the chess set,i can't figure out how to play because it's so out-dated....i will try netchess though. you said I need the "java plugin"....which I don't have on my phone, is that one of the files in the java app??thx again!

I tried the netmobilechess app and I can open it just fine, but when I try to use it the phone always freezes....this would be a good app if it worked right....

i'm surprised no developer is on to this ideal...do you know how many people play chess worldwide on a regular basis, combined with the number of people that own a pda/smartphone too? better yet, this number seems microscopic when compared to people that play online !! this is an "open market" for this.......anyone(in particular a developer) hear me??

Off topic here, but just for the sake of future thread searchers - the best (Open Source to boot!!) chess program out there:

i tried this program and it is very weak, an average player can win the majority of games easily, for stronger players you need a chess game like hiarcs, chess tiger or chess genius.
it would suit my needs if one of the previously mentioned programs had online play as well,on a major chess server would be a plus( like chesseverywhere before it got canned!!).....please someone....hear my cry...!!!! aaahhhhh...!!!!
