Hi. longtime lurker, first time poster, and I've tried searching for this through the archives.

but my question is, can you set the treo 650 where the phone will ring through the phone speaker while a corded headset is plugged in? I don't like having to keep the earpiece in my ear the whole time.

thanks for your responses. Sorry if this has been addressed already, but I tried searching under all variations of "headset" "ringer" and whatnot.

No. Invest in a BT headset if this feature is important to you.
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

No, when you plug in the headset, you disconnect the speaker.

Try out the palm program freedom. That does what you want I think

I have a Seidio headset and it does NOT cut out the speaker when the phone rings. I use the headset for playing mp3 files, and use Pocket Tunes as the app. I would be much happier if the speaker did cut out! Of course I know the phone is ringing because the mp3 track stops playing, but because I can't hear the ring tune, I have to look at the screen (if I can find the phone) before answering.

I have the palm hybrid headset and when you have the phone set to ring it plays through the speaker and not the headset and vice versa as far as having the switch to sound off will only play through the headset... but I use my bt headset and never carry this anymore..
The only time I ever made a mistake was when i thought I did and was mistaken.

I think the "problem" only happens when you use MP3 files as your ringtones. If you use the built-in MIDI ringtones, even if you plug in a headset (I've tried Seidio and Sony Ericsson stereo headsets) the ringer will come through the phone speaker. But if you use an MP3 ringtone, because it's played by a 3rd party app like PTunes, if will certainly go through headphones.

I don't use MP3 ringtones and never had to worry about such a "problem".

with my wired headset, the headset rings if the volume (slider switch on the top) is off, and the speaker rings if it's on.

At today's prices I treat h/s as consumables and have spares. A total of 5, 2 wireless, and 3 wired, seems to be enough for me to always be able to find one.
