Okay so I've a lot of junk on my 650 and I wanna clean her up. What files should I hold onto in my "backup" directory if I wanna keep my contacts, planner, call log, ring tones, versamail settings and all other phone settings?

I see tons of files in there but I don't know which ones to hold onto for these.

This is an Application question. It is currently being discussed with a thread in the Applications section.

You're talking about this thread? http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=92996

No, not the same thing. I'm not looking for a software by anymeans... I'm talking about the directory on my computer that has all the backup files in it. Which files do I keep in there in order to keep the stuff I listed...

    Tough question.

What I did when I cleaned my Treo up, was hotsynced, used Backup Buddy, and then hard reset. I then deleted all the files in my HOTSYNC backup folder and hotsynced so my Treo was bound to my computer and all my contacts/calendar/etc. were back. I then installed my applications using the Backup Buddy backups. Be sure to turn off the Backup Buddy hotsync conduit the 1st time you hotsync after your hard reset.

Sorry, if this is really complicated.

    1) Hotsync
    2) Backup with Backup Buddy
    3) Delete PALM hotsync backup folder
    4) Hard Reset
    5) Hotsync
    6) Re-install apps using Backup Buddy backup.

This worked for me and I didn't lose any important data.

I don't think any of the PIM db's are in the program files/palmone/'profile'/bakcup folder. That folder contains all the current files on 'ram' of your device. However I'm not sure about the call log or ringtones...

Just make a copy of the backup folder just in case and delete/restore the files as you go...

    *SIGH*

    Ahem...search for RTFM.

Ah... alrighty, I'll actually answer the question this time... Those are the G2 libraries that are in ROM! Thus you cannot delete them and they are not taking up space on ram. You can enable graffiti on the Treo using a freeware called Graffiti Anywhere...

Oh ****. Okay I just lost all my NEEDED data.

Phone numbers... Planner info... Pretty much everything I was trying to KEEP.
I figured I'd just make a backup of the 'backup' directory and go **** around... SOMEHOW I ended up losing all that data. I messed up somewhere along the line and I cant restore the data.
So I just bent over and ****ed myself... Time to get all my numbers back and I didnt have a whole lot in my planner section since i'm here at airborne anyways.
