Several of us in the Treo 650 Hardware forum have been griping about needing an app that rotates the screen to landscape mode. Although there are several applications that do this internally, there is not one that just rotates everything. So we need someone to create the program. We're willing to pay for this app (within reason), and there's certainly no competition for it. Please post or email me if you can be of assistance.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

First out of curiosity - what would be the benefits of such an app ?
    Isnt the screen square ?

Some of us want it for using with our Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard, which would better support the Treo if on its side. Some want it for their car navigation kits, I believe for the same stability issue. A few wanted it for holding sideways (i.e. in disguise) on a plane so the flight attendents wouldn't hassle you about turning off your phone.

Personally, I need it for the first reason. Most especially because I have a bottom-flip case (see photos) which does NOT work with the keyboard. I use my Treo and keyboard in grad school (instead of a laptop) for taking notes.

    Thanks! I second this!

I too need if for use with the keyboard. I want to lay it on its side for three reasons:

    1) stability (planes seem to jump around on me
    2) easy access to headphone jack
    3) easy access to power jack

So on those long flights I can pretend to work, listen to music, keep it charged, and have room on the little table for a beer!

There's some more info on why, and what people have tried in these threads:

If you go to any of the other forums (mytreo.net...), you'll see similar posts.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

This sounds like an interesting project.
I have to dig a lot deeper to estimate the amount of work, though.

One worry - sometimes the Treo650 uses a different set of libraries than the standard Palm OS device for many things, including drawing.
This may make it impossible to implement such a feature without inside support from Palm.
(first thing that comes to mind - Blazer & VersaMail use their own graphics engine)

I am way over my head right now in work, but will get back on this in a couple of weeks, I promise.
