Ok I am deffinately a Newbie but I am not clueless. I got my T650 a few days ago and have been trying to set everything up today and it all seemed to be working well, I could sync without any problems and what not using the Bluetooth. I decided to see how much faster it would be using the cable that came with my phone (VZW) Then during the first sync with the cable it froze so I canceled it from the treo and it said canceling but it just stayed on that screen so I used the Task Manager on my laptop and ended the hotsync task and it ended. After that I always got this error,
    "Outlook Calendar
The attempt to open the database failed.
Date Book application database is not found. Please invoke the Date Book application on the handheld once and re-synchronize
    OLERR:05-0001

I have tried many things to fix this problem including re-installing palm desktop, soft and hard resets of the treo, and changing the outlook conduits to computer overwrites handheld. I get the same errors using bluetooth as I do the cable. I also before I did the resets on the treo I tried using dbScan and it didn't fix it. I am out of ideas, anyone have any thoughts?? I did a search and couldn't find the same problem in the forum anywhere so I apologize if i missed it.

Also after the hard reset the first sync (the restore) seemed to work ok it had only this error "- Already exists: C:\Program Files\palmOne\TreoM\backup\ConnectionMgr50DB.PDB" but everything else eg. the calendar, the contacts, the tasks, and everything was restored successfully. PLEASE HELP!!!

Many of us have experienced the same problems Repeat the below steps for each of your databases, and all should be fixed - without any hard resets or reinstallations. If this doesn't help, give another yell.

Well, when I deleted ContactsDB-PAdd.pdb, the Treo refused to sync any contacts despite resetting and restoring the file. I ended up having to delete 5 files to get it to work:

    ContactsAVIndex-PAdd.pdb
    ContactsDBIndex-PAdd.pdb
    ContactsDB-PAdd.pdb
    ContactsSimDB-PAdd.pdb
    AddressDB.pdb

I moved them off to a folder on my SD card in case I did need them. I then manually did a soft reset and let the Treo rebuild the indexes and AddressDB file. Of course they were blank (as I wanted).

Finally, I set the PocketMirror Professional XT conduit for Contacts to "Outlook overwrites Handheld" for the next sync and performed a hotsync. Outlook then transferred all the contacts back to the Treo.

Unlike JohnH, my Treo did not reset after that restoration hotsync. So far, so good. I've done a few more hotsyncs and added test contacts to ensure that it is working. Seems to be fine now.

Obviously, there was some kind of corruption in the database and the Treo was choking on it during "Clean up". The insidious thing about these kinds of errors is that you never know what application may have done the damage.

So I deleted the calendar files and this is the error message i get for the first sync after the deletions... "Handheld Calendar application database version not supported.
    Outlook Contacts
The attempt to open the database failed.
    OLERR:02-0001
    OLERR:0D-0004
    OLERR:0D-0001
    - Not Synchronized
    Outlook Contacts synchronization failed"

Then subsequent syncs I get the same the old error message again. I don't know what else to do. I have hard reset again.. set it toreplace handheld, everything that i can find...i have done all the steps on the palmone support website... Is there a number i can call to get support from palm? they only offer verizon wireless phone numbers on their website.

Is there a third party sync software that I can buy that may just eliminate this entire problem?? UGH I really want to get in touch with palm.

Thanks for any help you can give.
    Grrr.

Are you syncing on 2 computers and 1 is your corporate issued laptop?
Did you by chance setup VersaMail to manage your email?

VersaMail, I believe when setup, manages your syncronization of your appointments as well as email. This is very strange, as I ONLY want it to manage syncing of my email.

My company doesn't have the service allowed on our Enterprise server to work this out.

    My fix was:
All my appts were on my MS Outlook fine, but they wouldn't sync to my T650 because I had setup VersaMail.

I had to uninstall PalmOne's software, delete the directory from my PC, then do a format of the T650. ONLY DO THIS IF YOUR CONTACTS, APPTS, ETC are setup in MS OUTLOOK THE WAY YOU WANT THEM. Otherwise, you will loose your data. Create a backup of your database just to be safe.

Then I went into MS Outlook, and delted the handheld username I had setup.

Re-installed the PalmOne desktop, this time without initiating VersaMail and everything went as it should.

Also, I had orgininally setup my First Name Middle Initial Last Name as my user name. I changed it to simply my First Name Last Name too. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but I couldn't figure that one out for anything.

Now, if I can somehow figure out how to sync 2 PC's (Home and Laptop) with MS Outlook email (corporate) and my Pop3 (home) I'll be thrilled. But, I'm afraid to go back down the road I was on.

The wierd thing was, that I couldn't change the Custom conduit settings for MS OUtlook to handheld. It would always read "Do Nothing" after a sync, even though I would set it to sync each time.

This again, was due to VersaMail I believe, as it wants to manage not only email but also appointments.

There are several previous posts about this problem. Try doing a search on OLERR. You'll find that Palm has a blurb that includes several things you can try to fix it. I tried them all and they didn't work for me. I haven't really solved my problem yet but I found out (from an old post) that if I have Outlook open when I sync, the errors don't occur and all the items are syncronized. Good luck. Seems to be a common problem with many possible causes/solutions.

Thanks! For some reason my Outlook Calendar sync stopped working ( I had changed the "Use time zones" flag, which I'm thinking was the culprit).

    As suggested below:
    1. I used FileZ to delete my Calendar DB on the Treo (had to do a soft reset first 'cause it was in use)
    2. ran the Calendar once to get a database created
    3. Changed my conduit setting to "Desktop overwrites handheld"
    4. Synced.....took a LOOOOONNNNNGGG time on the Calendar, but everything is happy now.

Here's the errors I was getting before:

    Outlook Calendar
The attempt to open the database failed.
Date Book application database is not found. Please invoke the Date Book application on the handheld once and re-synchronize

    I was failing on Contacts/Tasks/Calendar.

    EASY SOLUTION for ME ....
    1) Went to home menu of applications
    2) Clicked on Wireless Sync application
    3) Did the 'drop down menu' by tapping on upper left hand corner
    4) Chose "settings"
    5) Chose "Connections"
    6) Clicked on "Advanced"
    7) Checked the box of "Enable other sync apps"

    I have a treo 700p for verizon

I've read two threads on this, but no definative solution. I have s Sprint Treo 700P, I upgraded from my Treo 650, I cannot hotsynce my outlook calendar, contacts, or memos. I keep getting Olerr messages. I had an old version of pocket mirror installled on my pc from years ago (when I had a Treo 600) and I'm not sure if that's what kept the conduits open for my 650, I tried the db scan solution, the fileZ solution, the palm conduit updater solution, and the new pocket mirror trial 4.0.4 solution, nothing seems to work. I've even hard reset my handheld and tried from scratch without any success.

Is yours a Verizon device? If so, have you tried the solution in post #9?

What device/carrier are you using? Post your Hotsync log.

When I look at hot sync's settings it has oulook calendar and contacts set to synchronize. When I hotsync they revert to do nothing. When I set them to sychronize again and set default, hotsync manager crashes. I have all Versamail files deleted off my device(except for the ones in ROM), and have the Versamail conduit set to "Do nothing". I also tried Dbscan, and that didn't find any deleted records.

I just switched to a new laptop and am having the same issue. Can you explain step 1 and 2 in more detail?

    UPDATE
OK, so I think the issue is with Chatter. When I turned Chatter off I was able to sync with no issues. I still need to search around here and over on the chatter fourms, but anyone know a workaround so i do not have to disable Chatter to sync?

So I just had my 700p exhanged, and just before i did, I hotsync'd. When I sync'd my old profile on my new phone, I got no contacts. I still have the problems listed above. Versalmail is set to do nothing, and the outlook conduit settings keep reverting to do nothing. Is it me or is hotsync just a pile of garbage?
  18. #18
versamail may still have been setup with an Exchange Active Sync account

even though you set it to do nothing, it will still disable calendar and contacts sync

i suggest you do a hard reset and hotsync with a new username

I have a Treo 650 / Verizon. I tried VersaMail, but it didn't work. It would SOFT reset the PDA if the DELETED MESSAGES CACHE got too big. So I had to delete the asc3 and asc4 files, soft boot the PDA, enter my my personal data and passwords, and start over.

Even if it worked for a while, the vzwmail.net server would quit recognizing the password (or it was possibly reset or changed in the PDA -- I don't know). Then I could retrieve my messages from the internet, BUT COULDN'T send replies through the vzwmail.net server.

THEN I switched to "WireLess Sync". I don't use an MS Exchange Server but I do use OUTLOOK to retrieve my messages when I am home and using my laptop. All I wanted to do was send and retrieve messages via internet, from my private email address.

So I set up "WireLess Sync" to retrieve mail, WIRELESSLY FROM MY PDA, from the internet -- i.e. I didn't choose the option to retrieve business mail. That MAY have been my mistake, I don't know. Anyway, the PDA WIRELESSLY sync'd up perfectly with my internet mail, and downloaded messages fine.

HERE CAME THE PROBLEM -- when I tried to sync my PDA from the docking station, with Outlook on my laptop (via HotSync), all HECK broke loose. It would sync fine the first time. AFTER that, something in the settings changed -- causing HotSync Manager to lose (or not be able to find) my Calendar, Tasks, Contacts, and Memos files (I SAW ALL THE TEXT DESCRIBED IN THE QUOTE FOR THIS THREAD)

BEFORE YOU SPEAK -- yes, I even went into the advanced settings on WireLess Sync. I set the NETWORK profile to only pick up and sync mail. I set the HOTSYNC settings to sync up ALL FILES (including Calendar, etc). Still, once I sync'd with Outlook on my docking station, HotSync Manager lost all ability to find Calendar, Contacts, Memos, Tasks.

When all that failed to work, let me tell you, I had to HARD RESET my PDA and download my other files and programs back into it. I also had to remove MY PROFILE from the PALM APPLICATIONS folder, so the PDA and the program thought I was a new user. The reload software, etc. WHAT A PAIN.

I am in agreement with an earlier post, saying there's some sort of conflict when syncing from two different sources (i.e. wirelessly AND via docking station, using HotSync).

My long explanation has a QUESTION. Does anyone think I could choose the "Corporate EMail" retrieval setting when I set up my PDA with Verizon?

I never hear of these issues among Blackberry users, so I suspect it has something to do with the syncing software. Is this "Wireless Sync" software just junk? My HotSync software worked perfectly fine (of course, I couldn't sync my email wirelessly) before I started monkeying around with this other software.
