I have a Cingular Treo 650 (unlocked, & has an xxx update to enable BT DUN) & SprintPCS Treo 650 (has 1.12 update). I just tried the Treo 650 camera, & was surprised to see "banding" in a low-light image:

The Cingular Treo 650 took this picture (no "banding"):

I don't get it. Is it the software, or do I have defective SprintPCS Treo 650?

Anyone else getting "banding" on lo-light images?

What do you by banding? You mean it has a longer exposure time and thus take fuzzier picture?

Personally I never bother with the phone camera, the color accuracy is so poor. Not that the other phones are better. I don't like the picture on the Sony s700 either.

Look at the vertical bands in the 1st image..they're faint, but there. They aren't present in the 2nd image

The video for the Treo 650 is pretty darn good: no compression artifacts when you pan the video-camera. On my Samsung MM-A700, when the video camera is moved, the artifacts are TERRIBLE.

The Treo allows *arbitrary* length videos..the MM-A700 allows only 15sec.

That is normal on the 650. I get the same when taking pictures in low lighting.
