Is anyone using the litefeeds newsreader on their treo? (www.litefeeds.com) Its a java based reader, but when you download what they say is their palm version, all you get are a .jad and a .jar file, which quick install won't accept. Any ideas on what to do with these? Their website has zero support, besides an email address.

Nope. You could try extracting the jar file with winzip to see what's in there.

Check out QuickNews as well (www.standalone.com), my current fav. Also just checked out FreeNews (which is java based), although it's not free which annoys me that it's in the app title (http://www.freerangeinc.com/)

No answer yet, but I was eventually able to get the .jad file onto my Treo. Now when I try to run it from the IBM java app, I get an error.

If you have the IBM JVM installed correctly
you should be able to then just point your Treo's mobile-browser to
http://litefeeds.com/m and it should install over the air. Be sure to reboot the
Treo after installing the IBM JVM. Also try pointing directly to the
.jar file if you are getting errors related to the .jad file, just
point your Treo browser to http://litefeeds.com/lf014.jar and it
should install. This has worked for most Treo users.

Also, if you do not want to use the midletHQ to load the midlet, I can post the prc via the jartoprc tool here! Just post the jar/jad files or pm me and I'll post it in this thread...

I get the following error from Midlet HQ: AMS error: The application description was missing the required MIDlet-name field when I try to install the jad file.

But the jar worked just fine.

Where are the feeds stored? In RAM? Or can they be stored on the SD card?

    Thanks!
