If you did set it up, either delete that account or start using the wireless sync to get your calendar.
I just had to thank you for this insight. I had been searching all over for how to fix this problem. I hadn't really started using Versamail, I was just playing around with it on my exchange server, so I didn't even think it could have been the culprit.

    2. Launch it, but choose "Current".
    3. (Click "OK" on the interim window that pops up.)
    4. Click "Start Scan" at the top of the screen.
    5. Delete any corrupt records that this program identifies.
    6. Change the action of the desktop Calendar conduit to "Handheld overwrites desktop".
    7. Hotsync.

OK I'm trying this out and it's not working for me. For some background, I hadn't synced my old Treo 650 in many months, since I had BackupMan and installed apps from my SD card. I got a replacement and used BackupMan to restore my contacts and calendar. It worked fine except I didn't have a Hotsync name so some programs wouldn't let me install them. I downloaded Palm Desktop and installed it, and it hangs on the initial sync on Memos or Calendar. Just to test it, I did a hard reset and it synced fine. Restored from my latest backup, gets stuck again.

So I just installed dbScan, and followed your instructions, and I'm getting stuck. I run the program, select Neither, Options -> Remove All Deleted Records, I select PalmSource. First it says ToDoDB, Records Removed: 0 and I hit OK. Then it says Deleted Record found before non-Deleted Record. I hit OK and the message keeps popping up, over and over again. I've pressed OK at least 100 times before giving up and soft reseting. It does this every time I try. Any ideas?

When you look at the log does anything catch your attention? Restoring from a backup often continues the problem. Ben

I was pretty sure this is all due to my restoring my contacts, memos, etc from a backup. I'd like to get rid of that, but I don't know how to. Memos are easy, I can export them as a text file. I'm not so sure about the contacts since I don't have them anywhere else, that's why I restored from a backup. I'm thinking if I e-mail myself a vcf of my contacts then import into Outlook, I can wipe the contacts from my Treo and then sync and bring them back. Hopefully that'll work.

Can someone tell me the quickest way to delete the contacts database?

this happened to me too, but i kept pressing OK until it stopped, after that i ran dbscan again for PalmOne and that's when it had the error above and the calendar was wiped out, ohhh half the contacts are gone too, but i already backed those up, what should i do? thanks

edit: looked through the calendar and it wiped out everything after jan. 06, help please!

I have a weird one...my text messaging seems to be locked up. When I try to delete it, it freezes up my phone. I did a hard re-boot, and that got rid of everything. Problem is, when I Hotsynced, the stuck text messages came back like everything else. In the choices for which overrides which, there is not an option for SMS text messaging handheld to overwrite the laptop. How do I delete the text messages that are on my computer? I don't know where they are located?

    Thanks.

Those messages are stored in a file called, "Messages_Databases" or something similar (it depends on which Treo you're using). Like almost everything that's not PIM-related, it's stored in your /Palm/username/Backup directory, where "username" is some variation of your Hotsync ID.

Either delete that file from the backup directory, hard reset and restore...or just delete it directly on your Treo, using something like FileZ.

Only took three months to resolve my problem.

Initial problem is that Outlook Calendar synchronization failed. Here is a copy of the log entries indicating failure:

    OK Quick Install
    OK Media
    Outlook Calendar
    OLERR:05-0013
    OLERR:05-000F
    OLERR:0D-000E
    OLERR:05-001D
    OLERR:0D-0048
    OLERR:0D-0004
    OLERR:0D-0001
    - Recovery Sync
    Outlook Calendar synchronization failed

    OLERR:15-0002
    OLERR:06-0001
    Outlook Contacts
    - Fast Sync
    OK Outlook Contacts

Turns out I had a corrupt database on my palm phone (Treo 700p). I loaded an applicaton that fixed my database called dBScan v2.0b. You can find this program at this link http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-748.html?dbScan or at http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/utilities.htm.

I would select my current database. It then reports the number of records found. The first several times I tried to "Start Scan" it caused my Treo to reset. But it was also reporting that I had 7 Deleted records found. So I chose the option to "Remove all deleted records" and after that it would run fine. It also found that several records that had "Repeat On field in some repeat events not Null" but it said that was OK and typically was caused by some "third-party" apps.

So the only thing that I did was to use dBScan to remove the 7 deleted records, and then tried the HotSync and now it works!

    Problem:
Treo 650, Calendar does not sync with Outlook 2007 over Vista using PalmDesktop 6.2 beta. Everything else works fine.

    HotSync Log:
    Calendar (Outlook) synchronization aborted
    .- Duration:
    . Outlook Calendar
    . OLERR:05-0013
    . OLERR:05-000F
    . OLERR:0D-000C

    More info:
PC is new. No previous version of PalmDesktop has ever been installed before version 6.2 beta. Outlook 2007 is virgin, there is no previous calendar entry. All my calendar entries are on the Treo.

Solutions tried (no success so far):
As of Palm KB solution 31167:
Install the PIM Support Update: did not try because PalmDesktop 6.2 should include that already, right?
Delete offline Calendar records: did not try because i do not use Exchange server.
Give all recurring events an end date: there is no event yet on Outlook, the only events are birthdays (that come from Address book) but just to be sure i put an end date to all of them. did not work.
Delete events that span midnight: i checked manually all events on Treo, but could not find any midnight spanning event. And in any case, this should be a problem when transferring from outlook to Treo, not vice versa, right?
Reset the link between Palm Outlook Conduits and default Outlook folders: I tried it, no success.
Experiment in batches: no batch in outlook to try, as i said all events are on Treo.
Use Outlook's "Detect and Repair" function: i used the microsoft office diagnostic, which identified no problem. Following some suggestions, i even tried to hotsync after rebooting, but no success.
Try a third-party sync solution: did not try yet, i want to find out what the problem is first.

    Other things I tried:
    - to sync with outlook open and closed;
    - to sync after performing system and soft reset on treo;
    - to sync when not connected to network;
    - to use dbscan.prc, which identified 0 deleted records and 0 errors. Reality is, i just followed bill gambleīs instructions and i have no idea how to use dbscan; anything different than those instructions gets me to a reset;
    Again, no success so far.

So, any other things that i can try?

Also, can you please confirm me that PalmDesktop 6.2 beta does NOT require to install the palmoutlook2007conduits.zip?
(again, i have problems only with calendars, everything else that syncs with outlook works fine)

And finally, where can i find instructions on how to use dbscan? Iīve read there should be some readme.txt file with the installer, but i couldnīt find it on pimlicosoftware.com

Many thanks in advance for any take

O.K Bill, I followed your instructions on removing deleted records, and it worked like a charm. Bill, thanks for saving my sanity. I did in fact previously delete duplicate contacts on both outlook and my Treo 700P, as I've done in the past, with no prior problems. My question is, why did this error happen this time, not previously???? Does this have anything to do with deleting a record while the screen blanks out? Any why didn't NVBackup fix the problem like it usually fixes everything????

Palm's datamanager kluge, every now and then, will choke on deleted records in one of the PIM dbs, usually the Calendar. Almost every time that I've restored from a card backup, I've run into your problem; I make it a practice now to remove deleted records with dbScan after every card restore, then Hotsync "HH overwrites DT".

I can only assume that if this didn't happen before, it was because you used a backup taken immediately after a Hotsync.

Guys and girls, thanks for fixing my problem. I've had the calendar synchronization problem for several months and never could fix it. dbScan wouldn't fix the problem, nor anything else.

robapodaca and Bill, I finally combined your advice, and the calendar sync's properly, now. I ran dbScan, which didn't find any bad records, then told it to "remove all deleted records" anyway. It removed three deleted records. I then ran the HotSync "HH overwrites DT", and I didn't get the error message.

Thanks to everyone who asked a question and everyone who posted a fix.

I have been using Palm desktop with my Treo and am now trying to switch over to using Outlook as my desktop. I have tried everything in this forum and on the palm site (installing the most recent conduits, running dbscan, fixing cross-day and non-terminating events, clearing the offline mailbox, resetting Outlook folders, etc.) and am still crashing on the Calendar sync.

I am pretty sure that the problem is that I am running out of memory on my PC....it is crashing syncing the Treo entries to Outlook (it does not even get to syncing the Outlook entries to the Treo). I have over 6000 Treo calendar entries (I want to move over all my past history) and it gets to 4000 records and then crashes. I think this is memory because 1) when I closed all other apps, I was able to get significantly further (from 2K to 4K), 2) after it crashes, my PC is essentially unusable until I reboot (if I try to open an app, it fails on memory issues). My suspicion is that the hotsync app/conduit is not well coded/behaved, and each record consumes additional memory without releasing any until the whole thing is done (no commit points).

So my question is does anyone know a way to load and sync the calendar records in batches? There are instructions on the Palm site on how to do this for Outlook entries but I am not able to figure out how to do it on the Treo side. I had the idea of archiving the entire calendar to a file and then loading pieces of it at a time, but the format seems to be proprietary so no obvious way to chop it up. Maybe I can create like 3 separate user ids, load all the entries in those, and then delete 2/3s of the records from each ID and then archive/reload each of these to my user ID (syncing to Outlook after each). Would this work or can anyone think of an easier way?

2 additional things: 1) when I have tried this and it crashes, I have tried to just sync again and have it pick up where it left off, but when I do this it creates duplicate records for EVERYTHING that synced the first time. I am assuming this is because it never completed successfully and therefore the synced entries were never "marked" and this problem will go away when I successfully get through a full sync?, 2) I'm not sure if a 3rd party app like Chapura would work better, I have not tried any yet, but I realize this is an option but would only like to do as a last resort.

    Thanks!

Have you tried using PocketMirror? Many folks who've had problems using the Palm conduits find things much improved after installing PM.
