Yeah but where is it on the phone? Which menu? I can't find it.

On the desktop the only option I see is set the conduits to go to Palm desktop or to outlook express.

I finally solved the problem by deleting the CalanderLocationsD file. Then restored my CalanderDB from backup and hotsynced.
  3. #103
I'm back ant square one. Calander won't sync.

Which files need to be copied to the PC for the sync? I'll do in manually and that's it.

You can copy the PIM databases to the PC, but that won't update the desktop equilvalents (either in Palm Desktop or Outlook). Hotsync is necessary, for example, to convert the information in CalendarDB-Pdat (Palm side) to datebook.dat (desktop side).

Thanks Bill. I was hoping Palm Desktop is using the same DB.

I have a similar problem to many here, but haven't got it resolved after going through this entire thread.

I have a SprintPCS Treo 650 and cannot get it to sync with Outlook 2003 on a new laptop. I use Hotsync via the cable and just installed the software from the disk, selecting sync to Outlook upon installation so the appropraite conduits should be in place.

    The problem:
Each time I try to sync, Versamail, Media, Backup, and Quick Install work but I get nothing (calendar/contacts/tasks) synced to either Outlook or Palm Desktop. The Hotsync operation completes appropriately.

Despite resetting it manually several times through the custom Hotsync setup, my Date Book, Memo Pad, Address Book and To Do list automatically set back to "Do Nothing". The rest of my Outlook settings (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks) remain at "Synchronize the Files" .

    Solutions Tried:
I have Versamail, but no accounts set up on it save the one they force you to keep - that's not set to ActiveSync. So the Versamail override/reset doesn't seem to be the problem.

I've tried both of the suggested dbscan solutions in this thread.

I've also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the software from the disk provided me.

    Other Factors
I do sync to multiple computers. My home desktop has no problems syncing (aside from creating some duplicate records). I just switched jobs (hence, the new laptop) and on my previous work laptop the Hotsync functionality began to be unable to establish a connection as of about 3 weeks/1 month ago. I don't use that computer any longer and since them I've established a sync connection to both my home computer and new laptop - so I don't think that's much of an issue.

I have multiple users set up on the Treo, but don't think that is the problem either.

My Outlook has "Internal" and "External" settings as provided by work for when I'm away from the office.

Outside of that, I've got no clue - aside from a funny feeling I'm overlooking something completely obvious. You totally gotta help me! Here's my Hotsync log:

How do I get the contacts categories to show up in Outlook 2003?

I have switched to syncing with outlook 2003 using pocket mirror. Seems to work fine now but my contacts came into outlook without the categories.

Folks, i've read through this thread and appreciate all the effort folks have put into it. my problems are similar to those explore here, but i haven't yet figured out the right trick to fix things.

PROBLEM - about two weeks ago, my calendar (and only my calendar) stopped syncing when i sync from the cradle to my PC via a USB connection. I don't use any wireless synchronization software or services. I am using Outlook 2003 with Palm's HotSyncManager. this setup has worked fine for the past 2 years. I can think of two settings that have recenly changed in my setup that may have caused this: (1) i recently changed the password for my VersaMail pop email account. and (2) my Outlook was recently altered to sync all email from the Outlook server to local versions of the same email.

WHAT I'VE TRIED - following advice in this thread, i've tried two things: (1) i downloaded dbScan and followed the instructions posted elsewhere in this thread. the software showed no conflicts. (2) on my PC, i ran "outlook.exe /resetfolders" from the command line. this seemed to have no effect. either

If it's helpful, I've pasted my sync log below. Any advice?

If you were looking for "conflicts" with dbScan, you weren't running it correctly. I don't know if it will actually help in your case, but here's the way it should be used: http://discussion.treocentral.com/showpost.php?p=778768

Bill, Thanks. I was a little imprecise in my language. I hit the "remove all deleted records" button for both PalmSource and PalmOne, but this made no difference.

is it possible that if i changed sync software -- perhaps try Chapura's PocketMirror utility -- it could help with this problem?

Most of these Outlook sync problems can be traced to the lousy Palm conduits; much of the time, when dbScan doesn't fix the problem, PocketMirror does.

Rukia rocks! Turns out I had an Exchange Active Server email set up in Versamail (I had forgotten about this because it doesn't actually work). Once I deleted that account I was able to change my settings to sync instead of "do nothing".

    Thanks for the tip Rukia!
  14. #114
Sure enuf, PocketMirror found and fixed the sync problem. I had to run it a few times: each time it would try to sync, it identified a problematic event in my calander, which I'd then fix/delete, and then rerun the sync. evenutally, it ran thru cleanly, and i was back in business. FWIW most of the bad records were events into which i had pasted a lot of data. chapura's pocketmirror is a *huge* advantage over palm's sync software which would choke on these big records, but not identify which ones were a problem. Thanks Bill.

How does one _delete_ the Versamail Outlook account? I'd set it up in the past, it never worked, but I can't figure out how to delete it. Seems to be no option for delete in the Palm Desktop > Versamail settings.

    Thanks,
    According to the Versamail manual:

    1. Select the account to edit:
    a. Click the HotSyncŪ Manager icon in the taskbar in the lower-right corner of your computer screen.
    b. Select Custom, and then select VersaMail.
    c. Click Change, and then select the name of the account you want to delete in the pane on the left of the screen.

    2. Click Delete Account, and then click Yes to confirm the deletion..Done.

    Thanks Bill.

I've gotten as far as opening the VersaMail Configuration.

    It presents the Accounts: Outlook
...which is configured to "Do nothing".

However, the buttons on the right only offer "Add Account" or "Edit Account"
Both "Delete Account" and "Advanced" are greyed out.

No amount of clicking "Set as default" or "Informational logging" will change that.

Do I need to create a dummy account, set is as the default, before I can "Delete" Outlook?

    Thanks,

You might also check the birthdate index - mine was wacked. After it was reindexed, it sync'd rather than sunk.

I'll assume you really are performing a "warm" reset instead of a "soft" reset. Since a warm, or system, reset disables all system extensions, that fact that you can only hotsync after such a reset indicates interference from an application - specifically, one that works on a system extension level.

I suggest that you rename your desktop /palm/<username>/Backup directory (to, say, Backup.old), hard reset and hotsync. That'll load your PIM data, but no 3rd party software. After that's finished, hotsync again; if that's successful, then you know the problem lies with one of those applications in that renamed backup directory.
