I could use some expertise here, I'm a new to Treo 650 and I have the job of assisting others. Challenge - Treo 650 Cingular not syncing to Outlook 2003 events, message "There is a problem syncing events (sys05e5) server returned error for last command status:5". This was working fine when the laptop was not part of the domain but after adding it to the domain and creating a new profile email continues to synch but not the outlook calendar. It appears to be using the Versamail for the syncs. I have reviewed many threads regarding this issue and I'm unclear on which best fits my situation. Since this is Treo belongs one of our executives I'm would like to make sure I don't break more than I fix. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am a computer and PDA ***** but ZI just bought a used treo 650. When I installed the palm software, it asked me if I wanted to use a new user name - the problem is the former user name is still on there. I cannot remove it successfully and therfore cannot sync my data (adress book and calander) onto the phone - I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and everything comes back as it was before. I am frustrated. Can someone on this forum please help me with this probelm?

So anyways, my new sprint treo 650 arrives today and I have questions about syncing. I had a tungsten E and used Chapura Pocket Mirror to sync so I could use Outlook contact subfolders. Instructions say to delete 3rd party software before syncing to treo and thus, without Pocket Mirror, my subfolders will not sync. Will I be able to use subfolders in Outlook with my Treo 650, and does anyone use chapura software for their treo? Thanks for all I have learned so far.

Argh... Sadly, I seem to be one of the few for whom this procedure doesn't work. I followed the above steps PRECISELY about 5 or 6 times, and every time, the Calendar doesn't sync at all (i.e. it's BLANK in Outlook) and my HotSync Log looks like this:

Advice? This is really crippling... Thanks so much!

Well, just figured this out finally (after two days of tech support with both Palm and Chapura, and installing Pocket Mirror, then figuring out the problem, then UNinstalling Pocket Mirror). Turns out that I just needed to slightly modify Bill Gamble's steps (above), so that I instead did the following:

    1. Install dbScan 1.9c.
    2. Launch it, but choose "Current".
    3. (Click "OK" on the interim window that pops up.)
    4. Click "Start Scan" at the top of the screen.
    5. Delete any corrupt records that this program identifies.
    6. Change the action of the desktop Calendar conduit to "Handheld overwrites desktop".
    7. Hotsync.

When I followed Bill's steps, I discovered zero corrupt records... When I followed my steps, I found 4 or 5, and deleted them. Everything works great now! Glad I found this board!

    Thanks everyone!

I can hardly believe it... The problem I've been having with my Hotsync freezing has finally been solved. Yes, I have previously been told to "run dbscan" but I've never really known what I was meant to do with the program! So, thank you very much Bill for detailing step by step instructions for what to do with dbscan. Your help has cured a very frustrating problem.

Worked like a charm! (See post #4)

    help!
  14. #74
First, there are clearly several different problems in this thread. The dbscan thing didn't work for me, nor did any other suggestions.

    My problem:
    - No calendar events were being synchronized.
    - In Hotsync manager, Outlook Calendar said Do nothing.
    - My Hotsync Log always said
    Outlook Calendar
    - Do Nothing
    OK Outlook Calendar
    - If I changed it to "Synchronize" and checked "set as default", Hotsync manager would actually exit, and when I (manually) restarted it, it would forget my changes.
If I didn't select "Set as default" and did a hotsync, my calendar wouldn't hotsync.

The good news: I FIXED IT!

Digging through the PalmOne Knowledgebase, I found an article that discusses the difference between the Palm Conduits and the Pocketmirror Conduits. My conduit said "Outlook Calendar", which means somehow my old Treo 600's Pocketmirror conduits were soiling my new fangled Treo 650 Palm Conduits.

Sooooo, to make a long story longer, I downloaded and (re)installed Palm Desktop 4.1.4E for Windows from Palm: http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...ndesk414e.html. This (among other things) restored the Palm Conduits - now in HS Mgr my conduit is called Calendar (Outlook).

Note - before you reinstall, I highly recommend you make a copy of your "Backup" directory, since Palm Desktop thinks it knows better than you and moves a bunch of stuff into a "PalmOS5 Incompatible Apps" folder. During the install when it told me to hotsync, I copied my entire backed up backup folder back into backup (who's on first?), then I hotsynced. Presto!

I hope this helps someone else!

Before doing anything, I always take thye entire user name directory and all subdirectories and save it to a networked puter.

Are these instructions and dbScan1.9c meant for just the 650 or will it work with, say, a 600?

    Thanks!

I've followed all the steps outlined here, no help. Hotsync locks up on Contacts. Here's what I've run into:

    1. Install dbScan 1.9c
    2. Launch it and choose "Neither"
    3. From the menu, choose Options/"Remove All Deleted Records"
    4. Do this for both the PalmSource and PalmOne databases. When I do this for PalmSource, it says "AddressDB Records, Records Removed: 11"

So obviously, there's a problem here. Buy when I exit DBScan, it resets the phone and the hotsync still hangs.
When I retrace my steps in DNScan, it still has the same 11 records, so apparently since it resets the phone, the 11 problem records are not removed.

    Any suggestions??

I suggest that you try one sync with the Contacts conduit set to "Desktop overwrites handheld".

what it means by "delete 3rd party software" is the software that you have installed on your tungsten E handheld because some of them may not be compatible with the treo 650. you don't have to worry about your pocketmirror. all you have to do is upgrade it to the latest version. just visit www.chapura.com.. anyways, you can prevent the 3rd party softwares from transferring to the treo by creating an entirely different username when you sync. this will not affect your data on outlook since it's independent on the palm desktop software.

    good luck!
