I'd like to move Ptunes (and it's associated skins, files) to the SD card. I need the RAM for Resco Explorer ...

What's the best way of doing this? The installer that comes with Ptunes doea not have this option (if I remember right).

I use Uninstall Manager. Should I

    a) remove Ptunes, use Quickinstall to re-nstall to the SD card or
    b) use Application to Copy the files (I can guess which ones ..) to card and then delete from RAM

    Any suggestions?

I use PowerRun to move my apps. I have moved Ptunes with it and it works just fine, minus the streaming, which I don't use either.

    I don't want to use a 3rd party launcher.

    Move PocketTunes.prc to /Palm/Launcher.
    Move everything else to /Palm/Programs/PocketTunes/...except:
    1. PocketTunesPL* files
    2. Pocket Tunes Song Database
    3. Pocket Tunes Shoutcast URLs

Or you could use the free program, LinkStart Lite to move everything out of RAM, in much the same manner as PowerRun.

    Where do items 1, 2, 3 go?

Should I delete them from RAM and let pTunes re-create them as needed (in other words, they'll always be in RAM)?

Edit: Should skins also go in the Palm/Launcher directory of the SD card?

Items 1,2 and 3 seem to be RAM based. Skins, as I said, go in /Palm/Programs/PocketTunes/.

I don't understand how the PowerRun trick would work. Can I play music in the background with PTunes stored on the card? Does it remain in the heap memory while running in the background?

I used ZLauncher to make the move, and yes, it does continue to play music in the background. The heap memory, I can't address.

    Bill,

By installing pTunes to the SD card the way you suggested: will that allow pTunes to play in the background?

It'll play in the background, but a copy will be left in RAM when you quit it; you'll have to delete that copy every time you use PT as a background app...but that's the price of your not wanting to use a 3rd party launcher.

I use pocket tunes to listen to internet radio...but not very often. It won't run from the card, even with Powerrun. Is there any negative to using power run to move it into RAM when I want to use the radio, then move it back to the card when I am done?

Whenever I had pTunes on my card it ran just fine - in the background and everything. I could still listen to my Shoutcasts and whatnot too. I had a problem with pTunes replicating itself over and over though. So, it'd be on my card AND in the RAM, even though I never specified as much. Eventually I just decided to keep it in the RAM since I use it so often.
Why are ringtones always such a big issue? Don't people realize that they're obnoxious!? And why the Nintendo 'Wii'? What th-!?
