I have exactly the same problem with my Treo 650. Did you find a solution ?

    ah found a solution.

    1. Download and Install dbScan 1.9c
    (http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbscan.zip)
    2. Launch it and choose "Current"
    3. Select Start Scan
    4. Program will scan database and report corrupted records. Program will
offer to remove corrupted records. Make a note of the details of the
record. Tell program to delete record. If the deletion is successful
program will carry on scanning. If the record is really corrupt, then Palm
may reset. If it does, use the details written down to manually find the
record and delete it. The Go to 1. above.
    5. When this has finished or you can't get any further without the Palm
resetting re-launch the program and this time choose "Neither"
    6. From the menu, choose Options/"Remove All Deleted Records"
    7. Do this for both the PalmSource and PalmOne databases

    8. Change Hotsync settings to Palm overwrites desktop (so corrupt records
    aren't copied back).
    9. Hotsync.

On the desktop, watch what file it is synching....I had this problem when it would sync a memo database. I deleted both copies (deaktop and Palm) and problem solved.

I'm getting the same error - although only occassionally, which is annoying.

Moreover, if I cancel the hotsync both the Palm and the hotsync app on the desktop seem to be locked....

I have the same problem. Although it is only when I use the bluetooth connection to sync. Using the usb cable works fine.

Grrr. I'm still getting this problem, although it's about every other sync.
The thing locks up when the Treo says 'synchronizing calendar' and I have to reset the Treo and force the hotsync app to close on my desktop.

    Very, very annoying.

I've tried running dbscan, but it found nothing wrong.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Deleting the calendar databases from both sides worked for me.

    I'm still having strange problems.
I'm down to about a 50% success rate with my Treo650/XP syncing.
It will sometimes freeze on memos or calendar and the only way to get out is to reset the Treo and force-close the hotsync app on my PC.
    It'll usually then sync fine.

    It's driving me nuts!

dbScan is probably the solution, but the method listed by david_navigator isn't usually recommended for dethman's particular situation. Follow these directions.

So, you can still finish Hotsync most of the time? If your problem can be fixed by just Hotsyncing again, then, No, it's nothing that dbScan will fix.

When it stops dead at 'Calendar' I have to reset the Treo and foce-close the desktop hotsync.

It'll usually work OK the next time.

It sounds like it is time to physically copy your calender information to paper or whatever, do a hard reset and set it not to sync the calendar information. Ben

What? Copy seven years worth of diary dates and appintments on to paper?

    Yeah, right.

  18. #18
Well, if you cannot get it going again, what would you do? Do you have a good copy somewhere that can be easily or moderatly easily be edited on the desktop to give you a good version of what's on the device? You can of course set the sync manager to NOT sync the calander and so forth. I have on occasion had it lock up, and one time I had to update the file from a previous backup.

So, yeah right. Continue with the problem or take steps to fix the problem.

I'd like to think that there's a slightly more 21st century solution to my problem than your suggestion of arduously copying all of my calendar entries dating back to 1999 onto paper.

try going to program files/palm/backup and rename the file to backup_old. When you hotsync, a new backup file will be created and corrupt files will not be reinstalled.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...
