I want to be able to put a compressed, encrypted .dmg file (my Documents folder from my iBook) onto my Ultra ll Plus sd card. This is in case my laptop gets stolen- I'll have my Documents folder in my Treo 650 that I carry everywhere.
I have already tried copying the file onto the card, but when I try to copy back from the sd card onto my iBook I get a 'I/O' error.
I've double checked that the card write-protect switch is in the correct position.
The sd card was formatted on the Treo.
My first guess is that it has something to do with the differing file systems used on the Palm vs Mac.
Any ideas why I get this error?

how are you doing the copying?
I suggest a SD card reader.

It could lose the resource fork. What compression scheme did you use?

The neat thing about the sandsisk sd plus card is that it's a usb device also. It plugs directly into a usb port. The .dmg file was copied directly from the iBook to the card.

I used Disk Utility to create the file. In the save dialog, I selected the compress and encrypt buttons.
