Of course this may be to little t late but I am in need of any help I can get w/ backup buddy. I had a crash requiring a hard reset. I am trying to restore using the above but I keep getting a bad sector error 0x2908. Is there any way to solve this, I have even tried restoring individual files but it gave me the same error when I did applications not just sub files. any help would be great, I will just be here pondering suicide. Just kidding.

Backup Buddy for Windows or Backup Buddy VFS? What version?

You didn't say what version. Upgrade to BackupBuddyVFS Pro v3.1.

I have 3.1. I bought it just a few weeks ago and never attempted to use it to see if it worked. Real bright.

A bad sector error indicates a card problem. Copy your card's contents (the entire directory tree) to a temp directory on your desktop and format your card with the Card Info app. Then copy everthing back to the card and try again.

Could it still be a card problem if I can bring back the files to my internal memory using FileZ?

It's possible...it's at least worth a try. I mean, think about it...you're the only one having the problem - it's a pretty good bet that the problem is your card.

Bill can I get some of you Treo skills. Before we were talking about reseting and backup buddy.

In general should one always turn off the radio before doing a reset?

I saw something like this on another thread. Since I too purchased 3.1 a few weeks ago and never tried it (and didn't want to test it either) I wrote them and received a link to update to version 3.1.3 (BackupBuddyVFS Personal Lite). I know this won't help you with this immediate problem, but they must've had problems like this and decided to upgrade. You should write as well. Here's a copy of my emails.

"I purchased BackupBuddyVFS Personal Lite a few weeks ago. I posted on Treo Central the followin (I am RickMG). Below my post are two post from the person having the problem. He says that after contacting you he upgraded and the problem is fixed. I'm just wanting to know if my version will be okay. I do not want to test restore as my Treo is working great at present. My version just says 3.1 whereas he says his is 3.1.4. If mine should be upgraded, can you send it to me? Thank you."

    Here's their reply to me:

    "Thanks for your message.
You can upgrade BackupBuddyVFS3 by downloading a
newer version from the same link you downloaded your
original version. It is best to first remove old
backup files and delete the previous BBVFS from the device.

    BackupBuddyVFS Personal English Version:

(link removed as per statement below)

Please note this link is for registered users only, don't post
    or share this link

Please note: if you are using a T5 device or Treo 650, make sure your device is
up to date. Palm has recently released updates for these devices.

James, 'ol buddy, I gotta say that I really don't have an opinion on that. :-) Unless someone can point me to some research that says otherwise, I'd say that it doesn't matter.

I had the same problem with BBNVFS. It has been a buggy program for me--crashing during backups and never fully restoring. I have since switched to Resco Explorer. It actually works.

    Thanks Dr. Bill
