I could swear that I read about an app that allows you to just take your Treo650 and plug it in to any 2k or XP system w/ a USB cable and Windows will detect it as a mass storage device. Was I dreaming? I'm not having any luck on the searches that I've done for this and have given in to "ask for directions"... can you tell me where to get this app?

i could be mistaken but i don't think that was it. from what i have read over at http://www.softick.com/cardexport/cardinstall.html it looks like s/w will need to be installed on the desktop.

what i'm looking for is plug and play functionality. where i don't have to installing anything on the workstation pc that i will be plugging into.

please correct me if i am wrong. btw, have you used this app on your 650? the site says OS 4, no mention of higher Palm OS support.

    No software needed.

yup use it all the time too. Great software it is not true plug and play like a thumb drive you have to hit "connect" on the Treo for the computer to see it but the computer does not need any software at all, it shows up as a logical drive.

only problem is that most thumb-drives work at USB 2.0 speed (~40MBps). The treo works a much lower speeds (~14MBps, that if you have it set to the maximum speed(note)). so expect an extremely slow performance. don't transfer large files through cardexport. use a card reader for that purpose.

note: to set treo to max speed go to 'prefs' -> 'connections' -> choose 'cradle/cable' from list -> click 'edit' -> click 'details' -> then set 'speed' to 115,200bps.
