There's an LED right next to the hotsync button which I've never seen light up. What's it for??

I just got mine and it lights up red when the phone is in it.

It's supposed to indicate that the spare battery is being charged. It doesn't light up on either of my cradles unless there's a battery in the compartment.

I"ll go ahead and add that I do have an extra battery in the thing...

That would make sense. How else would you know it's charged?

Here's it's logic (as far as I can tell):

If there is a battery in the compartment, it is on (otherwise, it is off).
If either the battery in the compartment or in the treo (if it's cradled) is charging, the light is red, otherwise it is green.

Now why didn't I think of that?
Finally, I can stopp poking it with a pen to see if it's actually a button.....

I figured this out only a few days ago after getting my treo and palm charger/cradle.
I would not have know it had a compartment for a spare battery, it was the fact of the little light button on the cradle that was not lighting up that made me look at the instructions that came with it, normally would bin them.

Neither of my cradle LED's do anything unless there's a battery in the compartment. I wonder if there's a hardware revision out there? My first cradle was bought the day Palm released it; the second was bought a month or so later when Dan's Cellular first got his supply.

Sorry, I meant to say that it would *only* be on if there was a battery in the cradle. If there was, it would be green only if both were charged. If there is no battery, it would be off.

I just re-read what you wrote and you did say what you meant to say. I, on the other hand, misconstrued what you wrote, and read what I wanted.
