Can someone recommend a stable RSS New Feeder for my Sprint CDMA Treo 650? How does it work? Cost? If you know of any known bugs or problems with any one RSS News Feeder in particular, please let me know this as well. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, mszatny. Do you use it? Stable??

I use Quick News and find it very stable. New feeds are easy to add and navigation is easy. If you plan on accessing RSS feeds a lot from your Treo, it's worth the cost, IMO.

Quick news 1.1, saves feeds and podcasts to SD card

I've been trying it out and if I mess up the feed URL there's no way to get it to stop trying to get the feed once it tries to update OTA. Cancel works to no avail and I have to soft reset to get out of the loop.

I use QuickNews also, very stable with no problems. Save to SD card method saves tons of space also, I subscribe to around 20 feeds though.

Thanks all. Any comments about a news feeder called mNews 3.1 from MotionApps??

Mnews is good because it is fast and the user interface is simple and easy to use. Version 3.2 added podcast support, but it seems to use Blazer to download podcasts. Due to the 2 MB limitation in Blazer, I haven't been able to download large podcasts.
Quicknews is more complicated but has more options. Quicknews + mmplayer is the best thing since sliced bread for podcasts. I would rather stream podcasts rather than download them, and this combination works great. You can use Quicknews to subscribe to podcast rss feeds and then stream podcasts with mmplayer from within Quicknews. Podcasts such as Nightline, NBC Nightly news, This Week, etc. are available.
I prefer streaming to downloading, because a lot of times, you only want to hear the program once and you can listen to them instantly without waiting for a download to finish. In addition, you don't have to make sure that you have room on your memory card for a lot of different podcasts.

One most only stream with mmplayer? Treo has no resident program for streaming--other than downloading via blazer?

    LOL, good one

Ok, bad example...say you have a feed set to autodownload a podcast then realize, whoops, you don't want to download it. Cancelling does nothing, it restarts all over again

Just my personal experience - I ran QuickNews and mNews for awhile. While QuickNews is jam packed with great features, I couldn't get past the non-standard interface. I don't enjoy using apps where I have to think to get around. So mNews won, since it navigates like a standard PalmOS app. (For the most part - there are a few 5-way tweaks it could use).

It's been stable for me. The only annoyance right now is that it leaves a bogus-named file in RAM after each network-sync, which causes my backup software (BackupBuddyVFS) to give an error during backup. Thankfully it still backs up everything else, it just complains about the file. (FYI motionapps knows about the error, and they're working on it)

Can I use quicknews and ptunes for the podcast?
  18. #18
or tcmp for that matter. Mmplayer was so buggy. I have deleted it.

You can use Quicknews with Aeroplayer, pockettunes, or mmplayer. Streaming is only available with mmplayer. With Aeroplayer & pockettunes, Quicknews will download the podcast then open aeroplayer or ptunes automatically to play the podcast.

I checked out mNews the other day and much prefer QuickNews. Navigation takes some getting used to but looks and feels a whole lot better to me. The latest beta has some nice improvements as well.
