When the radio is off and 4cast (1.63) tries to update the weather, it asks if I want the radio to be turned on. Failing to get a reply (as it would if the phone was unattended), it ends up with a msg " Interface error Interface PPP0 did not come up". 4cast stays as the active application with this message box displayed, waiting for me to tap OK

Will this prevent other scheduled tasks (alarms, scheduled backups etc) from taking place?

Is it possible for 4cast to exit such a failed update attempt and go back to the application that was active before the 4cast update attempt (like it does after a successful update)?

    Shimon,
I installed the new 4cast and activated it and shortly after that while in 2Day I got a reset and when it came back on all of my saved preferences were lost and I had to do a full restore from my back up. ##377 says the crash was while running 2day:
Preferences.c, Line:263 Pref DB Open Error

    Any ideas?
Well, it isn't perfect and it makes me crazy, but I still do love my Treo!

    Sorry to hear that.
My first guess is maybe the downloaded file was defected somehow (I actually had this happen).

Can you please re-download and try, and tell me if this repeats ?

Slightly off topic: Did you try restoring just the Saved Preferences file from backup? Should be no need to do a full restore ...

I thought about that afterward unfortunately.

1.64 handles this well. It asks me if I want to turn on the Phone.. and then times out gracefully if I do nothing.

    Thanks.

In every version of 4cast (with scheduled updates), the hourly scheduled time changes over a few days. It does not stay fixed at the time of the hour that the option was last set in the program.

I'm not sure what changes it: phone being off, failed internet connections, Treo being busy at the scheduled time, snoozing the update ....

It is not bothering me.. I'm just curious as to how the hourly scheduled time is decided.

    Hi,

    Checked it out.
    1. If you set it to update every day (or 5 days), then it will trigger every day on the exact hour you set.

    2. But - if you set it to trigger "every X hours", then it will always trigger X hours after the last trigger (and not on a regular time), so - if you set it to trigger every 3 hours, and started this on 1:00 - it will trigger at 4:00, but is you then postponed (snoozed) and made the auto-update at 4:30 - it will trigger again at 7:30.

Sort of a semantic question - when you say "every X hours" - do you mean "refresh again X hours after last refresh" ?
