I had to warranty exchange my Treo with Cingular due to the touchscreen only working occassionally. They sent me a all new Treo instead of the usual refurb. Last night opened the box and powered it on and it has a redish screen that is much darker than my old Treo 650. Should I accept this an acceptable variation in production of LCD's or should I push for another from Cingular?

The one on the left is the replacement

To me, that's a much more true white. I think your old screen has a blue tint. Furthermore, I wouldn't press your luck. If you request another one, chances are that it'll be a refurbished unit.

The replacement looks sharper and brighter to me. I would keep it and perhaps change the background in preferences if the whiteness bothers you.

Agreed. I use an off-white, almost cream colored, in any case.

Replacement looks brighter and clearer than the old unit-why not adjust the brightness.I wouldn't try to get it exchanged, they'd probably give you a refurbished unit next time around.

Like the laundry... Gets your whites whiter and your colours brighter.

And the one on the right doesn't have an off white, blueish tint??

The fact is...from what we see in the picture, the one on the left is whiter.

Ya know what, maybe you're right... I don't know . After looking at the picture (and maybe it's just the way the pics turned out), the one on the right does have a blueish tint, and the one on the left has a reddish tint. When I look at my phone's screen, it looks perfectly white; no tint what-so-ever.

Here's a pic I took of mine (man I've got too much time on my hands). In the picture mine seems to shade more blue. But when I hold my phone up to the computer screen next to the pic, it looks perfectly white. So, I think the pictures don't really tell the truth. The orginal poster "Dr" might be seeing something different than we are.

Last night after posting this message i noticed two dead pixels at the bottom of the new one's screen, so I ordered another replacement this morning. They indicated that Treo 650's are backordered so who knows when I will get another...
