I got the 1.31 Firmware upgrade files from the latest Cingular update. These files also have the same filenames as the leaked FW 1.30 from Hi PDA. Attached is the zip file containing these. To install, transfer the zip to your card and unzip install using handzipper. You can also unzip then install via hotsync. Just install this over your existing set up, no need to hard reset.

This update will not alter the software of your Treo, only the firmware. I have uploaded the file via yousendit. There will be a limitation to how many times this can be downloaded. I appreciate somebody who can properly host the file.

Thanks MFB, any idea what 1.31 has improved on?
  3.    #3
Improvements I've experienced so far is the call quality. I came from 1.30 so its better to hear what's new from users coming from stock 1.28. Im certain 1.31 addresses the same issues fixed by 1.30 less the problems some users are experiencing. This might be the reason why the latest Cingular update has this. Dont worry about this release as this came from Palm's update. I just copied the files I need from the hotsync install folder

Here's another simple method I posted over at Mytreo.net to install the update:

    Enjoy.

MFB, tmt...question? I haven't looked at the update, myself, but tmt says in his post that there should be 11 total 'firmware' files; MFB's zip only has seven. What's the difference?

The other files counted by TMT are the non english files (es, de, fr, it) which I didn't include in my zip file.

will this update flash the firmware or just overwrite the files? After a hard reset will this update still be there?

It flashes the firmware; after hard reset, the update is still there.

Ok. Upgraded my unbranded unlocked 650 with this firmware update. I'm now on sw 1.13 row and fw 1.31. I will report back any issues or benefits. I'm really hoping there are benefits since I use cingular.

Is this only for Cingular or *any gsm* Treo ?

It flashes the PHONE firmware, that is, the radio section only. It does not modify user data nor PalmOS system/apps.

I believe it will work for any GSM Treo, but I make no guarantees. I have tested it only on my Cingular running ROW 1.13.

Not sure why the update isn't deleted - it is on mine. But if they're still present I'd recommend using Filez or Resco etc to delete them.

I applied it to my Unlocked Treo using T-Mobile. Seems to work fine. I was hoping for shorter DTMF tones so I could check my voicemail at work. But so far no good.

I got a Motorola HS-805 and when I received a call it didnt automaticly trancfer to the headsett and it was driving me mad

Now after this update it suddenly works... dont know why it workes but it does..

Speakerphone seems louder, can anyone confirm this?

    StevenChoi,

You can use it on unlocked GSM. No problems with mine.

I was able to survive an inevitable reset with just 500 k of max db cache left. After launching a big app, max db cache increased to 1800. Hmm, it seems dbcache handling improved with 1.31 too.

I installed via hotsync and nothing happened...still says 1.28. Anything you have to do after hotsync other than soft reset?

I just updated my unlocked GSM from 1.30 to 1.31. I immediately noticed that DBCache size increased by close to 1MB. DBCache Tool reports that I have 13.xMB free and 9.xMB max whereas with 1.30 I had 12.xMB free and 8.xxMB max. I'll see if there're any improvements in the reception/call quality areas.

The download link provided has limited life and number of downloads. In the event it expires, anyone here willing to host?
