4gb is a bit much but what will be nice is that it will drive the 1 and 2gb card prices down.

I'm already filling up my 2GB card with movies. Movie files are huuuuuuuge! My goal is to keep all of the original 3 Star Wars trilogy movies on a single card, including all my other stuff on the card. At maximum quality, my movie files get up to 500 MB plus! I can probably get by at a slightly smaller 300 MB quality/size and still get decent viewing quality, but at 200 MB quality/size, image quality is noticeably deteriorated on some movies. -CC.

I am pretty sure the Treo 650 cannot handle anything grater then 2gigs. Still I would love to tell my ipod freinds that I have an ipod mini in my phone. Now I tell them its 1/2 ipod mini.

According to the Palm forums, our T650s will only recognize the first 2 gig of a card larger than that. I wonder if there is a work around if we could figure out where the restriction lies, the hardware or software....

I need your guys help in understanding something. If I want to transfer photos, mp3 files, etc. to the SD card, can I do this while I have the sync cable attached to my computer and the SD card in the Treo 650 or do I have to load and unload files while the SD card is out of the Treo via a SD card reader/writer.

You can do either. Quicker with a card reader though.

    With a card reader,
mp3 files should go in the \Audio folder
    pictures in the \DCIM folder

If the LifeDrive can access 4GB then Palm must be using Fat32 on that one. If so a firmware update should allow us to use 4GB cards.

    FAT chance...

Yes, I do that with a program called Card Export...look up the website for more info...www.softick.com
I like the fact that it allows me to "mount" my SD as an external drive in my laptop without having to use another card reader. The card stays in my Treo so no need to remove it just to add big files (movies, pics, mp3s).

I tried Card Export. It worked ONCE. Every subsequent attempt to use it reset my Treo. I uninstalled and reinstalled, same difference. So I just gave up on it. Palm File Browser does the same job reliably, but slower and it's free.
