    Hi,

    No updates yet, sorry...
Never heard of such slowing down...
    Will check.

    Anyone else notice this ?

It doesn't look like the 2day plug-in icons change for when the forecast changes - for example, it has the "partly-cloudy" icon for every day this week, even though tomorrow is "mostly sunny" and Friday is "Isolated thunderstorms". The icons that show in the 4cast app are accurate, however. (Treo 650)

I'd also like to see the "background sync" get implemented sometime in the future.

    Hi,

The "partly cloudy" icon is only the plugin icon - it is not related to the weather. Sorry about the confusion.

4cast implements automatic updates right now via the alarms mechanism - it will popup and launch to make an update whenever scheduled. If by "background sync" you mean for it to do it hidden (as a hidden task) - I cant tell if/when I will dive into the background sync thing - it's too much development, and too risky for bugs and collisions with other apps.

Sorry for being dense, but I'm not sure I understand - the 4cast plugin for 2day will only and always show the partly-cloudy icon, and not change to show other icons more indicative of the current weather (like the main 4cast weather icons do)?

    True.

At least until maybe I will make the hi-res version of 4cast (dont know when...)

I have had this occur twice in 2 days: yesterday with Versamail, today with 4cast. During a data connection, the Treo 650 resets. #*377 says:

A reset was caused .. while running "<unkown application>": GSM.c, Line:2236, serial break condition occurred (indicating FW crash).

I had never seen this until the latest Cingular firmware..

You mean Cingular has any support info for the Treo?

    Ha Ha Ha

By the way, the serial break condition happened again yesterday while updating 4cast. I have temporarily disabled the hourly updates in 4cast so that I can keep an eye on the process (which I am initiating manually now).

Does the text "(indicating FW crash)." appear in the error message ?
Or is it your interpretation ?

If it's in the message, seems to me this is a FW issue, maybe you should try re-flashing ?

Does this occur on other internet sessions ?
Does it happen to anyone else ?

The error message I quoted in post #28 is verbatim from #*377

It has happened once while Versamail was connecting to get e-mails. It has happened 3-4 times with 4cast.

It could be a generic issue.. I was wondering if 4cast was doing something different when connecting.

No - nothing unusuall, just normal network stuff.

Do you developers get details (from Palm, I suppose) on the error messages generated by the OS?

    Not familiar with this one.

    Shimon,

In testing out the Agendus 10 public beta I had a very strange thing happen to my Treo. After sitting idle for an hour or so, it would turn itself on and would not stay off unless I did a hard reset. Through a process of elimination, I discovered that 4Cast was causing the problem (or was at least partially involved). Disabling 4Cast updating makes the problem go away. I then turned 4Cast updating back on... still no problem.

This was tricky to discover since 4Cast was working perfectly up until I installed Agendus 10. Don't know if that's related or not.

Let me know if you need any further info!

    Pete

Then I would suspect some sort of collision with Agendus 10 BETA...
Does it do something in the background (auto-refresh, etc.) ?

It has the ability to auto-update its own online features, however this is turned off. The only other thing I can think of is they've added a signal strength indicator... can that step on other background processes?

Well - yes - I did encounter similar issues when I added signal meters to my 2day application. Eventually resorted to implementing the meters myself.

Is there an option NOT to show those meters in Agendus ? If so - please try disabling them, and see if it's better...

Unfortunately, it can't be disabled. By the way, it seems to have occurred only after I cancelled one or two scheduled 4Cast updates.

Scheduled updates have been on since last night with no problem again.
