I have just become aware of a problem and I haven't been able to solve it or find an answer. I first discovered this issue while checking out various time billing packages. One of the features that I must have is to be able to export to the memo pad or file. When I try to export I get an error that says " Could not open the memo pad database". I also found the same error in Handyshoper but it says " Unable to open the MemoPad Database. It may not exist yet."

I have done the following to resolve this.

I have gone back to a backup in BackupMan that was previous to my little adventures with time billing software. But still it is there. I did a hard reset and it is still there.

Does anyone know what may be wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

Are you by any chance a DateBk5 user who may have installed the DeletePIMs app? If so, that's your problem - delete that app, perform a soft reset and you should be back in business.

I am sorry to say that I am not. Thought this "MIGHT" be a quick fix for the power users on the board but haven't heard anything. It has got me stumped. Thanks for your help anyway.

    1. Perform a hard reset
    2. Rename your Palm/<username>/backup directory
    3. HotSync - this should load only your PIM data...no 3rd party software
    4. Install HandyShop2.prc and your various HS2* databases

    Does it work now?

Yikes this works. I thought that I had did the hard reset correctly but didn't rename the backup folder. How would I figure out what the issue is? Is something corrupt? Or will have have to restore one app at a time? That would be a pain.

Sometimes the problem is just the Saved Preferences file. Try this
    :
    1. Delete the new Backup folder just created
    2. Rename the old one Backup again
    3. Move the Saved Preferences file out of that folder
    4. Hard reset
    5. Hotsync

If this works you'll still have to reenter your various registration numbers and perhaps a few app preferences.

Nope... this didn't work. I removed the saved preferences which I found in the archive folder within the backup folder (wasn't in the backup folder) removed it and did a hard reset and resync'ed. Same errors as before but with out any of my saved setting, view, etc. I am reverting back to what I had this morning from my backupman backup. Any other ideas as I would like to be able to use these time billing apps.

    TIA

One more - if this doesn't work, you'll need to do the hard-reset-rename-backup-folder bit again and add back your apps one at a time. Use a file manager, like FileZ, to delete the Saved Preferences file in RAM and then follow up with a soft reset.

I am a little confused on this one... Just delete the saved preference in RAM with fileZ followed by a soft reset. Right?

The alternative being reloading my apps one at a time.
