That's what's nice about using PalmInternals. If unnecessary programs and options are prevented from using hede, then the user has more headroom for the useful programs that actually need to run in the background and use hede. It's about balance I guess.

Appreciate the flame retardent - a difference of opinion is a fine outcome. Bottom line - if people feel that working PalmInternals numbers results in a faster Treo, great, go for it and enjoy the results.

It's not just a feeling tomvb2000, it's a fact substantiated by better performance in games, video playback, the picture viewer, and a number of other situations documented in this 1.5-year old topic

On the topic of --hede-- and app keylauchers.

    Launch-Anywhere 0.9b1 Beta Published

Am trying it now to see if it bogs down like the previous version did in Zlauncher.
    _________________________________________________________________
I have since tried using the new Launch-Anywhere and it caused an extremly slow hede---

I must say this is the single most valuables forum subject I've read on any Treo-related message board. Adopting programs and strategies outlined here dramatically improved the performance of my 700p and eliminated crashes.

Now, if only I could find an app that acts exactly like the pager I ditched, for selective SMS text messages...

If only SD Card remount you want, you can try to replace CraddleCare with CardKeeper. It is smaller.
    Find it at: http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-75.html

I find that if I disable UDMH the card mounting problem diminishes significantly.

Interesting. Just tried this on my 700P.

Got Time in tics 110, time in secs 1.

I have quite a few apps on mine as well:
    Launcher X
    CallRec
    Voice Dial
    DateMate
    EZreset
    Directory Assistant
    Google Maps
    VersaMail
    Documents To Go 8.003
    eWallet
    Destaller Pro
    Volume Care Pro 5.57
    NV Backup
    BeJeweled
    Klondike
    GradeQuick (I'm a HS teacher)
    Pbench

I have nothing listed under 'hede' and only VolumeCare and Launcher X under 'hvch'.

I presume this is a reasonable result?

I have used PalmInternals in the past, but now it crashes my Treo 700p. Don't want to read the entire thread; are there any known programs that lead to a crash? It begins "Scanning Databases" and goes for a few seconds, then slows down and crashes.

Try running it immediately after a soft reset. That will provide the maximum dbCache for Palminternals to run.

    Doesn't work. Any other ideas?

No. Obviously it is some software that's tripping it up. You can verify it by running it after a warm or hard reset, but that would be pointless, as the purpose of running PI is to see which software causes slowdowns and what types of calls they are invoking ...

I suppose if you really really wanted to find out, you could start fresh (hard reset), install your applications one by one, running PI after each install, to find the culprit software.

I could use some help figuring how to make my Palm 680 run faster - here is the Info from Palm Internals (speed test showed 911 ticks). It was at 22000 tics when I had ZL configured as the default (now using Butler to map ZL to the home btn - much improved). I've also installed the modified version of KeyCaps, which has made an improvement.

Very interesting. I've been wondering why so many people complain so much about lags, etc, and I've never had any problem whatsoever. I have 97 tics, time 1 sec and nothing under hede, even though I think I have far from a vanilla device....but I don't use any hacks.

What 3rd party s/w do you have installed?
  19. #559
Fontsmoother, Crash, Graffiti Anywhere, HanDBase 3, KsDatebook, PDA Net, Docs to Go, Resco Backup, TCPMP, Tide Tool, Voice Dial, Filez, DA, Bejeweled, PalmPDF, Launcher X, Google Maps, iPhony, and the upgrade of Ptunes.

I don't use addit or On Demand.

    Wow! 14934 tics, 149 secs.

My 650 was alway 1 sec.

So, what's the procedure here? Go program by program to see who the hogs are? Do I have to completely uninstall them?

I'll check in the previous posts here, but any help is appreciated.
