I am getting the following message in the Hot Sync log when I attempt to install some third party applications. Error: The following file(s) could not be installed to the SD card because there is no application on your handheld to open these files. Any advise. I know this has probably already been covered but I guess I'm not very good with the search feature.

Are the files you are installing prc or pdb files? Those are the only file types recognized by the Palm OS. If you are trying to install mp3, ogg, or pdf files your best bet is to use a card reader to transfer them to the SD card. That is also much faster than the hotsync process.

...or use an app like Card Export II or Palm File Browser.

I am trying to install a .pdb file and I get the message I posted earlier. Will Palm File Browser 1.3 help? I have already downloaded WInZip but I'm not sure I am using it correctly.

You shouldn't be getting that message for a pdb file; I suspect that you're actually trying to install a Zip file. If you've installed WinZip, then double-clicking the zip file should launch WinZip; at that point, you've got to extract the pdb file to somewhere else, say, your desktop. From there, you can double click the pdb file to load it for installation.
