Is there any way to delete "Quick Tour," "Mail," and the other pre-installed apps that come with a Verizon 650?

Not if they are in ROM. If they dont show up in your Delete Apps function, they are most likely in ROM (read only memory) and cannot be deleted. Some have made custom ROMs where they remove these apps and reflash their phones, I would recommend against that unless you REALLY know what you are doing....

    Not yet.

Those apps are in ROM and cannot be deleted except by doing a custom ROM. Since VZW has not released any upgrades (Shadowmite says he need that to extract the necessary files) a custom ROM is not readily available.

If you're just trying to get them outta your launcher so you don't have to see them....your answer is obfuscate them!!! [LINK:http://www.pocketscience.com.au/Obfuscate.zip]

I haven't used it yet as I haven't been able to sync in a week or so because my retractable cable burnt up and I lost the one that came with the phone since it was a piece of crap. But as I understand it Obfuscate hides ROM apps (the ones your trying to remove), whereas ChangeMe hides/renames/changes icon RAM apps. [LINK: http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fu...&prodid=105690]

Yes - obfuscate works well... however, any time your treo resets, if it's like mine, you'll have to go back in to the obfuscate program and "re-hide" the stuff you don't want to see.

Obfuscate works for me. Only a Hard reset and subsequent recovery cause them to show back up on my Sprint 650.

You can also use a third party launcher like Z Launcher, create a custom tab and move all the icons for the applications you don't want to see into that tab. Then simply hide the tab.

Can you remove the icons from the ALL tab?

You can hide the ALL tab.

    That's what I've done.

I have the "unfilled" and "all" tabs completely hidden. I've moved all the icons for apps I don't use into the unfilled tab so I don't see them.

ahh ok. Thanks for the reply. I tried obfuscate lastnight and so far it seems pretty cool. This might even cause me to try chattermail now

    (couldn't stand two email icons)

I just went to the categories menu of the main screen created a category called, 'Don't Use' made the quick tour a member of that category and moved everything else to 'Main' Category and that's all that shows. I didn't have to buy any 3rd party programs or flash ROM. Easy enough

Use this freeware app to hide applications from showing on the palmOne launcher panel.

    ApplicationsPanl v1.3.zip

It works great on my Verizon Treo 650.

    Cheers --
