I've had this problem for as long as I can remember, I'm afraid.

Just to add the the troubleshooting...here's list of things I tried that did not fix the problem.

    - disabled Butler
    - disabled TreoGuard
    - checked/unchecked "Digital Roaming"
    - checked/unchecked "disable touchscreen when: incoming calls received"
    - uninstalled Chatter

    It still happens.

Okay, the bluetooth might be an issue with my computer also since that is the only time it happened sitting next to my computer/bluetooth adapter.

Applications I have installed since I have been having the lockup issue:
    Backupman
    Bugme
    Uninstall pro
It happened again to me this morning (for approx the 5th time).
I also noticed that keygaurd had locked up on me later in the day. I have just disabled Keygaurd to see if it stops the problem.

FWIW, I keep coming up with ZLauncher as the culprit when I do the "last program that crashed" hash code.

    :-(

Do you have CallShield installed? or CallFilter?

The only time it's happened to me was while the phone was in the charger/sync cradle and paired to my bluetooth headset SE HBH-660 (both in close proximity to my bluetooth enabled laptop). I also run ZLauncher so can't rule that out yet either.

Happens to me about 2 times/month. I will find my phone with the "incoming call" screen, ringing, indefinitely. There is nothing you can do except a soft reset. It's especially annoying when your buddy says "man, your $600 phone can't even receive a call without locking up." Awesome.

I have no clue what causes it, but I do think you loose SMS's sent during the "frozen" state. They are unrecoverable, which is incredibly annoying (gf calling, "why didn't you respond to my text msg, bla bla bla....").

I consider it the price of being cutting edge (although it's hardly an excuse in 2005).

Not sure if this helps but it only happens to me when the caller has a picture assigned to it.....

hmm... maybe it is a picture thing. I can't remember if it is only during picture calls. I get the same problem, btw.

Last weekend I'm downstairs and I hear my phone ringing for about an hour.

Good observation. Now that I think of it, the same is true for me.

You know, we really should make this a sticky until we solve this issue.

I propose we each sit down and post a list consisting of:
    1) The wireless carrier.
    2) The firmware revision.
    3) ALL third-party apps including any of the deleted stock apps if you're using a custom (Shadowmite) rom. List them alphabetically and with version numbers if you have them.
    4) Bluetooth devices paired with the phone.
    5) Any consistant time/scenario in which the phone locks up.

    My list is below.

    1) Keygaurd is not the problem, or at least unselecting it does not solve anything as it happened again this morning.

    2) Pictures are not the problem at least with my phone since I have none assigned to numbers.

I agree...I don't think this is application specific...it MAY be related to bluetooth being kept on around your computer if it has bluetooth adapter connection....MAYBE

Humm...come to think of it...I always notice it happening while it's charging next to my bluetooth laptop. I'll have to keep an eye out if it happens any other time.

Anyone have any experiences to the contrary?

I did a hard reset and the problem does not reapper. After a restore from backup, the problem is repeatable.

The problem appears to be related to the missed call dialog. If a caller calls the 650, the phone will ring until the caller is forwarded to voice mail. At this point the "you missed a call" dialog should appear; instead it locks with the caller info displayed.

I am thinking that it is a corupt missed call log. It is not the Call Log but something different. I assumed it was caused by a full call log but not so. I purged all of the call log entries and it remains.

I even deleted all of the phone entries in the Saved Preference without resolution. I still think it is an corupt missed call log file, it cannot write the new missed call info. Can you all verify whether you have seen the "you missed a call" screen since this problem occurred?

Ok so what came first, the chicken or the egg? If your phone locks up and you are unable to answer it you have a missed call log. If you have a missed call log which is corrupted you cannot answer a call... So what causes the initial freeze? And how do we correct it? You may well be right ... but how to prevent this is the real issue.

I have seen the "you missed a call" dialog since the endless ring bug. It works like it's supposed to 95+% of the time...then I'll get a neverstopringingafteramissedcall.
