I'm just too happy about this I had to start a new thread. Sorry if everyone has been aware of this already, but the latest VolumeCare has been out for a little while, yet I didn't pay too much attention to it even though I visit TC forums every day. Just tried this today and kicking myself for not getting it earlier.

You can now set the volume higher than what 7 bars give you during calls. The maximum call volume has been pretty weak, but out of the box this 100% volume level is the best you can get. However, now with VolumeCare you can take it to what sounds like 150% and more. It will actually make the volume too loud at max setting. Can you belive that? It is just amazing. My Treo 650 is a REAL phone now!!!!!!!

Welcome to the VC club. Where for a mere $9 membership your phone becomes usable. It is a very exciting application.

Are you using VC on a GSM or CDMA phone? THere are lots of discussions about VC in the developers section of TC. Jeff is very responsive to feedback.

Yep - for a mere $9 you get phone volume set to where is should be. In other words, we get to pay a developer to fix something that should not even be an issue. <sigh>

Oh, well, at least it works!

    Folks,

It seems to me that the GSM Treo alerady has "echo cancelling" problems and that is probably why P1 hasn't raised the volume (which would be trivial for them to do).

If you call someone on a Treo 650 with VC and the volume cranked, I'll bet there is an echo -- right?

I don't pay for very much software because I can usually find it as freeware. I didn't even try. I registered mine before the trail was even up.

I agree Jeff Gibson is the most responsive developer I've ever seen.

    $9 well spent.

Thanks Jeff for a GREAT, "must have" app. My Seido 2-in-1's and this app have ended my search for an MP3 Player .

Yes it works on my Orange 650 GSM.

I assume you have used up your trial period on an earlier version, else why not just try the demo
    Thought of the day :
No sense being pessimistic, it probably wouldn't work anyway

I have made a few attempts but ran into a few walls. I am going to go at it again with some of the new found knowledge I now have. Will up date later.

I agree this would be nice, but I am just so happy that my Treo's speakers operate at a level that I can hear in all conditions.

Better yet, the MIC adjustment has been a big hit too. People that used to say, that phone sounds like crap, now say "Did you forward your Treo to a land line?" I have also provided the ability to adjust the MIC volume *while* you are on a call with the key sequence Option+5-WayUP/DOWN. This allows you to fine tune your MIC sensitivity based on your environemnt!! If you are in a quiet environment, crank up the MIC volume and you will sound like you are on a land line. In a noisy environment, turn it down to cancel out some of the background noise.

    Enjoy.......

Hi Jeff... thanks so much for creating this valuable program. Just wondering though, have you heard any complaints from other users about call waiting? I recall reading about a conference call problem people were having in the other LONG "volume" thread, but I thought you had resolved that.

When I'm on a call and a person calls in, if I answer the call waiting, my volume drops to where I can BARELY hear the other person. They can hear me fine, but I can't hear them. I try to raise the volume again, but no luck.

Do you know what the problem might be Jeff?

Thanks again for your great work!

    Hi Jeff,

I apologize in advance for my ignorance or if you have already answered this:

What is the absolute latest version of VolumeCare? The one installed on my phone says 2.4, yet the latest version on your website says 2.18

Can you clarify this? Thanks very much.

    Jeff,

Will you be incorporating the latest VC into PC? Or should I just get VC now?

    Thanks.

The call waiting problem is something I am trying to find a solution for. The easy workaround is to toggle the speakerphone on/off or in some way change modes on the phone. This will restore the increased volume.

I guess I need to come up with a different numbering scheme.

    the current one is:

    ReleaseNumber.BuildNumber

The ReleaseNumber and the BuildNumber are each independent sequence numbers.

so 2.18 is newer than 2.8
