    Hey Jeff:

    Great program (once again).

    Minor sugestion:

Can you put little "tick/interval" marks on the slider like you did with BT Mute? It helps us "old-timers" who "dont see so well anymore".

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Can the mic be boosted any more? Ever since getting the 650 (Sprint; upgraded from Sprint Treo 300) I noticed that when I call some people, they can barely hear me. I can hear them fine. Most people can hear me just fine, but for others it's barely a whisper.

I tried VolumeCare and boosting the mic to the max (which was the default setting), and while I'm told it sounded a little better, it was still very weak. If I switched to the wired headset, it is again slightly better, approaching usable, but still very weak.

If I switch to the Treo Wireless Headset, then they can hear me just fine. That's what I've been resorting to when talking to people who I have this problem with. It's consistently the same people, but again, I never had this problem with the Treo 300.

I would think that maybe my mic is defective, but many people have no problem at all hearing me. It's odd...

Does VolumeCare help your ringer volume? I use an MP3 and it isn't very loud so I miss calls sometimes.

so if this is the way VolumeCare works, then it should essentially be overriding Profiles?
Profiles has nothing to do with the volume of the speakers during a phone call. The only thing this would override in Profiles is the back speaker volume when the phone is ringing. This also assumes that you have the back speaker option enabled.

Well the default MIC volume is not at the max levels but very close to them. As far as I can tell, the MIC volumes are as loud as they can go. I in fact have found that having the MIC set to MAX really improves the quality of my Treo. SO much so, people are saying it sounds as good as if not better than my landline. I have also had to talk softer so I don't overdrive the MIC now. Sounds like maybe your Treo MIC is not up to the same quality level if you are having these problems. Might want to go into your Sprint store and see if they have a diagnostic they can run.

Yes if you are not using any other ringtone manager and you have the back speaker option enabled.

so if I set the backspeaker volume to max, all system sounds will be maxed out no matter if I have a very quiet profile selected?

That is true *today*. I fully realise this part of VolumeCare is very basic. I threw in this option only because it was available and thought it was a nice bonus for some people. I do have development plans to fine tune this feature but don't have the time right now.

So I need to use VolumeCare for my Ringtone manager instead of Treoguard? If that's the case, then great.

I do plan to make VC "application" aware. When this happens, then you can use TG and VC will still boost the volume. Give me a week or so more.

Thanks Jeff! How can I use Volumecare with an MP3 ringtone in the meantime? I don't see an option in Volumecare for it (sorry if this sounds redundant, but I'm tired and can't get this resolved, and I just bought the license to register this).

Well VC is not a ringtone manager. So to use MP3's for ringtones, you will need a utility that will trap incoming calls and play an MP3 for the ringtone. For VC to effectively boost this sound, VC needs to allow the ringtone manager run and set its volume settings first. Then VC can come in a few milliseconds later and set the volume level. Does this help?

    Jeff,
I am using vc 3.18 on my gsm unlocked t650 on TMO. I was trying to make a phone call but my initial sound was so low I could barely hear the ring from the other side. So I cancelled the call and opened vc disable every thing and again enabled all the volumes boosted through vc (I only use handset, speakerphone, MIC). Made a call again but it was still very low. My settings under vc: handset initial 70% and boost : 90%, speakerphone initial 80% and boost 90%, MIC initial 90% and boost 100%.
problem might be with my phone or some settings because no one else have any sort of problem so far with 3.18.
Let me know if I need to change any of the settings?
can you please post your settings for vc which you think works perfectly?
    Thanks.

Yes, thank you. I hope you can get it to work with TreoGuard because this is one of the reasons I bought it. Thanks.

The "ring" volume was a thing that I took out of the v3.18 release. I have since gotten 10's of requests to put it back in and I have v3.19 already posted that corrects this behavior.

    Jeff

EDIT: Well you can tell I have had no sleep today. v3.18 fixed the "ring" volume issue. Are you sure you did install v3.18? Did you do a soft reset after installing it? Sounds to me like it may not have been installed correctly. I have had many reports that this release restored the volume at ring time.

So try to uninstall v3.18, soft reset. Then reinstall 3.18 and see if this problem goes away. If not let me know ASAP.

    regards.. ZZZzzzzzz

Couldn't find 3.19 at your site? Still says 3.18.

As far as I remember everytime I install a new version of VC I disable everything, do SR, delete, than also delete from palm's backup folder in pc, than install the new version, do SR, enable the vol in VC.

Just did the procedure for 3.18 again, but I still think the initial phone ring volume you hear when dialing someone is still low compared to what I get when boosted through VC.

I know you haven't got good sleep but hey getting the well wishes from all of us is even equally great!!! best developer ever don't mind getting enough sleep...!!!
