RingerSwitch Basic for Treo 600/650 can give you an attention when the Treo Ringer Switch turns to off. This simple application can remind you that the Treo smartphone is muted by using an blinking attention icon.

    Supports Treo 600/650 only.

    This is similar to Soundoff:

However it appears Soundoff gives a better attention interface...

I installed Soundoff this morning and noticed that the framerate in Nesem had dropped significantly. I uninstalled Soundoff and everything returned to normal. Just an FYI to those who may be using it. It's probably slowing down your Treo considerably.

I have not noticed a slow down with SoundOff and have used it since it was introduced. Does this happen when you mute the Treo or all of the time?

    All of the time.

SoundOff is a great application. Actually, SoundOff and RingerSwitch are doing the same job (let you know Treo650 is muted), but they are using different method.
I think SoundOff doesn't fullfil what I want. I believe RingerSwitch is easy to use and it can provide better user experience for Treo 650 users.

    Updated 1.1:
    - Auto detect Ringer Switch position
    - Enhanced 3rd party launchers compatibility
    - Fixed attention crash on some Treo 650s

    Feel free to try

Problem with Ringer Switch Basic is the little notification symbol is hard to see and if you have it muted you won't necessarilly realize that unless you look at your screen with the keyguard off. I find I often forget it is turned to volume off and it is in my pocket so SoundOff would give me a big notice on screen and vibrate at intervals. I also use 2Day as my main screen view and the notification from Ringer Switch just shows up as a little icon as a reminder/notice bell at the top of that screen that isn't so noticable either. How much does SoundOff really slow things down? It does that even when sound is not turned off?
Well, it isn't perfect and it makes me crazy, but I still do love my Treo!

SoundOff kills the Treo's CPU because is uses hede notifications. This means it wants to be notified whenever basically ANYTHING happens on your Treo:

Scroll down to post 11. hede is bad.

RingerSwitch Basic a much more eloquent program. No, it doesn't draw a large circle on the screen, but I don't have a problem noticing the flashing asterisk. I believe it buzzes too. Kind of hard to miss.

If it buzzed I would like it more, but it doesn't seem to do that. Because my screen basically always defaults to 2Day, there is nothing flashing, just the little "bell" icon on the 2Day screen so it doesn't capture your attention. Even on other screens, the flashing seems somewhat easy to miss. I liked the big circle and buzz, but I don't want to slow down my Treo for that.

Looks like the pro version should buzz.
Has the Pro version also been updated? (palmgear still has the last update
for the pro version at July 1st.)

And there isn't a trial of any kind for the pro version so I'm not ready to fork over money to find it only just adds a buzz (and maybe doesn't work).

For the Pro version, found out the hard way that if you're using
LauncherX, you need to set it to 256 colors instead of 65536
(the bug note was only in the Free version's Readme file!)
The max vibration time is only 30 minutes, with SoudOff I think
    is was 60?

The Pro 1.1 version is scheduled to be released this weekend.

For the LauncherX issue, it affects only on some Treo 650 with LauncherX. Also, you can try to change the colour back to 65536 then and RingerSwitch will work. If you don't have any problem, you can forget this information.

In Pro verision, the vibration interval is 5/10/15/30 minutes. Please comment if you want 60 minutes.

More features will be included in Pro version such as notice screen. Please keep an eye on it.

Switching back to 65536 doesn't work for me - LX still crashes. I either have to keep LX at 256 or move RSB to a tab that uses list instead of icon display.

Just as an aside, I do not find that 256 or 65536 makes any difference to the looks of LX or any icons?

Can anyone points me at an Icon etc that would look different

    Cheers
    Thought of the day :
No sense being pessimistic, it probably wouldn't work anyway

Is there any visual notice like in SoundOff that is bigger than the little asterisk in the corner? Is there a trial version of Pro? Thanks!

The pro version works fine for me when I keep LauncherX at 256 colors.

I would really like to see both a 60 minute and 120 minute option if possible.
(120 minutes would be the best when going to see plays or movies).
    Thanks for the great app!

Bill Gamble, ChasT: Some users reported they can change back to 65536 colours without problem. But if switching colours back to 65536 LauncherX does not work, please leave it 256. I think there is no difference between 256 and 65536 colours on LauncherX. It seems using 256 colours can increase compatibilty. For more information, you can go to www.launcherxplanet.com.

TheTreoGuy: Visual notice is on the roadmap. But there is no trial at the moment.

lemongrass: Thanks. Your suggestion is noted
