I got the email as well and while following the link came to the page that listed 1.12. Being the curious person that I am I changed the link to read 1.13.zip instead of 1.12.zip and there is a file to download.

I don't have my sync cable with me tonight but will load it tomorrow when I get to the office.

I also changed 1.12.zip in the the link to 1.13.zip and was able to download "Treo_650_Updater_1_13.zip". The extracted file is bigger than 1.12. I wonder what it is. I'm not going to install it until someone can pick it apart to see if it is really 1.13.

Here what the PalmOne email said:

    Treo Updates

Sprint and Unlocked GSM Treo™ 650 smartphone users: Make sure you get the best performance possible from your Treo 650 smartphone -- download the latest firmware update from palmOne.com. Our latest release (version 1.12 for Sprint and 1.13 for unlocked GSM) provides a variety of enhancements.

Note: 1.12 is for Sprint and 1.13 is for unlocked GSM phones.

Below is the actual snipet from the email I received. It says nothing about unlocked GSM and everything about Sprint Treo's. I've also taken a closer look at the link that I originally modified to get to the 1.13.zip file. It refereces sprint downloads in the url. I'll live dangerously and let you all know how I make out.

Ok so sometimes I type before I look..... I've taken a longer look at the url and it is in fact the unlocked GSM update that I've downloaded. The reference to sprint in the url is to take you to the install instructions after you've downloaded the file.

Dont install the 1.13 file from the changed URL, it is actually a 1.0 update, and I dont know if its GSM or Sprint or what... I went as far as the splash screen in the installer and it said treo 650 Updater, 1.0...

People are amazing. Dutch, myself and Jmill all tell you it's a typo, and you ignore us. I suppose if a bridge had just collapsed, and we told you not to continue on this road, you'd all do it anyways, and plummet to your deaths.
