    Hello everyone,
I'm sure everyone has seen the rumors of the Tunsten|XX and the fact that it'll run Palm OS 5.4.9 (BOOO NO cobalt!), have built in Wifi 802.11b, Bluetooth 1.2, and have the same processor as the Treo 650.

What I find intresting is that this Garnet 5.4.9 handheld has Bluetooth 1.2 a feature that is not supported by Palm Source out of the box. I am willing to bet money that this is the same bluetooth chip as the Treo and life drive. So does that mean with an upgrade of the OS (My unlocked GSM phone has 5.4.7 right now after the latest update) our Treo's, Tunsten T|5, and Lifedrives could have stereo sound and faster file transfers? Maybe even Bluetooth that is not crippled to bits (I wish it was as easy as it was with my SE T68i! that was a simple bluetooth phone!).

    What does everyone else think??

I kinda skeptical about the BT 1.2 rumor in the Tx quite frankly. Afterall, nothing is verifiable about it. However if it is true, I see no reason why palm would not integrate this into the next gen treo as well especially since the next Treo is not expected to arrive until early next year...

I think the Next Treo is being held off til the Linux PalmOS comes out. But in the mean time I don't see any reason why they couldn't keep updating the 650. After all we all remember when the 600 was released without voice recording funtionality, and then the glorious update came and gave us all that funtion. I can see that happening again with BT 1.2

however- if it does/doesn't have bt 1.2 just the fact that it has bt and wifi built in is compelling to me. if i was to choose between that and an ipaq/axim when it comes out- i'd be really giving it a hard look. however- i'm not getting rid of my ipaq anytime soon- especially not with WM5 on the horizon

I really hope not b/c PalmSource has stated that they don't plan on releasing Palm Linux until then end of 2005/early 2006 which isn't even garaunteed! If Palm waits that long, it would be many months after the release of PL until a new Treo would appear. More likely than not, the next gen Treo will probably just be another frankengarnet version or Cobalt (unlikely)...
