But it was working differently in 1.03 and 1.08. Does that mean those previous versions were the bugged ones? I hope you're wrong treotim.

But if there is an app out there, i'd use it. Any recommendations.

No I am not kidding. When I scroll I am in the list view and this is how I scroll. IMO much faster than scrolling through each individual contact screen.

I have found this same "feature" in the SMS app, though this was present on all firmware versions. It's a real pain to have to exit each message just to get to the next. The 600 had "prev" "next" buttons on the bottom of the screen.

I agree...I like the "new way"

I second that. I think this is a FIX in the firmware. It was REALLY annoying to be scrolling down in a contact and then all of a sudden jump to the next one, or to be scrolling up and jump to the previous one. I MUCH prefer this way.

However I realize that some people might prefer the other way, to bad there isn't a flag or option you can set in preferences, something like "Contact Scroll Lock" or something...

NRG: WOW that is an awesome picture! Where is it from? Did you make it?

I didn't try this before the 1.13 update (I have an unlocked GSM 650), so I don't know what is normal on mine. When I go into the individual contact view and hit the up or down on the 5-way nav., I hear a beep and then it displays the previous or next contact, depending on which button I hit.

As other posters have alluded, this appears to be a much slower way to scroll through your contacts and I don't think it bothers me one way or the other.

I found it somewhere I don't quite remember. The name of the picture is called 'Very Hard To Look At.jpg'. Google it and you should find it.

As an aside, if you read the Jeff Hawkins book "On Intelligence" he explains that response by saying that our brain, based on a life time of experience, has a model of what a human face should look like. Thus when we first see a face our brain makes a prediction as to what the features should look like.

However, when we see pictures like that, where it is familar, but not right, we can't help but stare as our brain makes sense of what it is seeing.

Sorta like how when you walk into your room, and someone has changed something, you know something is off immediately, but it might take you a minute to realize that the curtains are a different color.

It may be a long way to scroll but when I want to view all the info for a contact group it is much easier to select that group, ie business, family, friends and search all their info, numbers, emails, photo, address. It is a pain to have to select view, update, done, repeat process. I liked the old way! the GSM way. I have to believe the 1.12 version is now flawed! I like the European version, see post below.

This is defnitely a problem with the new update, and if it weren't for the following, I wouldn't care that much. As has been posted, when you try to scroll through, it doesn't actually scroll. But if you accidentally hit down a couple of times (if you think the contact has more than one page) and then hit edit to edit the contact you're in, it does actually switch as if you had scrolled. So now, you're editing the wrong contact info. Very very annoying. If we can get this sorted out, it would be very helpful.

Good call. That definitely is a bug. Obviously they missed something when they implemented this new way of scrolling.

This is wierd. When I looked at this the other day it would not scroll when I wa sin a contact. It would just sit at the same part of the contact. But when I went out it would have bene scrolling to other contacts.

Now when I am in a contact it scrolls, when I hit the end it will scroll to the top. But it will also be switching contacts on the list view so when I exit I am on a new contact

Same problem here. If I keep "attempting to scroll", when I hit DONE, I end up elsewhere on my list of contacts (like I had scrolled on the list).

It's got to be a bug, I have limited third party software.

Just to add a note, it works as I would expect it to here. If there's only one page of info, up/down scrolls to another contact. If there's more than one page of info, down scrolls to the next page. At the last page, down scrolls to the next contact. Up would scroll up to a previous page, etc.

    Unbranded GSM 1.28.
