    Well well well..

Night -> Overnight without any slowdown.

PC ver 1.10, alert screen disabled. Physical mute switch to un-mute, hotsync+charge cable not connected (I am streaching here to identify all of the environment that may be relevant ..)

    Butler or no Butler?

    Butler installed but disabled.

1.10 survived the midnight wake-up and the Overnight -> Day transition at 7:30 AM today without slowdown.

That's a full cycle of 24 hrs without slowdown.

When my phone went from nite to overnight, and the radio turned off, it appeared to lock at the radio off screen (probably a slowdown). I ended up resetting it. Firmware 1.30, Software 1.13 ROW, PC 1.11.

I have seen this "long" pause at the power down scren for the phone many tiems without PC running. Have seen this behavior ever since my first Treo 600 and now into the Treo 650. Seems like there are times that it takes minutes for the phone application to shutdown all of its connections.

This is GREAT news. I found one more thing that could help. Will put out a build tonight.

This completes yet another day without lockups with v1.11
I will install 1.12 and test.

Should I feel emboldened enough to enable the Alert screen?

All tests so far were under simple conditions (Applications on screen.. no other activity). Should I "torture test" the application by having an

    a) active call
    b) data transfer

    going on during profile changes?

    Nitpicking:

Now that you seem to have solved (or are very close to solving) the slowdown problem, I want to point out a few things..

    1. All aspects of profile changes don't get implemented unless I power cycle the Treo (using the red button). Example: LED should get turnrd off when going from Night -> Overnight. But, after PC cycles through the transition (2, maybe 3 times flashing the LED, powering on the screen etc), the LED still blinks until I power the unit on and off.
Another example: Keyguard should get enabled after I go through Overnight -> Day. But, the first time I power-on after this transition, Keyguard is not there. After a power-on-off, the Keyguard starts to show up. This is the standard Treo Keyguard, not PC's Keyguard.

    2. Is it possible to go through PC profile changes without turning the screen on? It lights up a dark room (eg, at midnight).

I restore the previous state of the LED. Perhaps another utility is not maintaining the LED state the way you want it matianed. I have seen this with Butler before.

PC's keyguard is Treo's keyguard. What I am doing now is autoamtically clearing KG during profile switches. If you have KG enabled for 30 second delay, then you will not see it working right after a profile change.

Unfortunately, the new NTFS memory architecture took away developer's ability to generate alarms that do not wake up the Treo!

    Help
I have trialed profile care and decided I did not need it in the end. I deleted it from the launcher menu but the phone tone is now not what is chosen on the palm sound and alerts option. It was fine before I installed profile care. After deleting proile care I have soft reseted too. Not sure what else to do.

Did you delete SC-HotKey.prc and SC-Execute.prc? You might also check to make sure the following files have been deleted by your launcher:

    SC-*.pdb

    Jeff,

I have noticed that during a timed profile change, day-night, the keyguard is going off and screen on leaving the the Treo open to random key presses while in my pocket, is there a way to leave the screen off during profile changes and not having the Treo wake up and go off keyguard? Also, I am running Chatter in the park in Chatter mode, if that helps.

    Thanks

Assuming you have a 650, there isn't a way to avoid having the screen come on. It's a "feature" of the NVFS subsystem. The only thing I can think of is to leave keyguard turned on for all profiles, but that can get annoying.

No this is not an option in the 650. There is a means to do this in the Palm operating system but the new NVFS filesystem eliminated this feature for applications that run in the background. So PC, and all other applications that run int he background, need to wake up the Treo when they respond to a timed alarm event.

I am trying out Profile Care, and am having trouble with my master profile being unable to activate in the morning, after my overnight profile is finished. I am using the palm security feature to lock the device overnight - so if I lose it, at least after a day, no one can get my info. It seems as if Profile Care can't do anything when the system is in lockout mode. Is this the case? Is there a workaround for this? Thanks.

No there is not a workaround. To do so would violate the sercurity you have put in place.

Actually, I think the answer is "it depends". I have mSafe installed for exactly that purpose plus, with GoodLink installed, the Security app locks the Treo after an hour of being idle. For me, ProfileCare doesn't have any problem changing profiles/settings unless the setting requires the UI interface to be used - that's when the security lock-out gets in the way.

The only time that is a problem is for profiles which turn the Bluetooth radio on or off since ProfileCare sends UI keystrokes to the Bluetooth app. I think it might happen with the Hotsync app as well, but that's not something I have in a profile.

Slithy - if the above doesn't apply, could you provide a little more detail on what your master profile is trying to do?
