Has anyone tried this program? http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Horizon/9959/

    Here is the description:

Blue Fang is a utility that simplifies the management of your handheld's Bluetooth radio, making it is easy to keep Bluetooth off when you don't need it, and on when you do. As well as being a more convenient way of controlling Bluetooth, this helps to reduce the drain on your battery. Features include:

Displaying the current state of the Bluetooth radio in the command bar.
Manual control of the Bluetooth radio via the command bar.
Automatic control of the Bluetooth radio according to rules you define.
Blue Fang is compatible with handhelds that run Palm OS 5 and use Palm's Bluetooth stack (except the Sony TH55). Blue Fang is available in English, French, Russian, and German.

    BLUEFANG IS AWESOME!!!!

I use it all the time, but not for the command bar feature...heck there is hardly ever a reason or need to call up the command bar on the Treo!

What Bluefang is great for is the "Auto mode" feature which can let you automate and configure the BT radio to turn off and on with certain apps! For example I use this with Blue files http://www.softick.com/bluefiles/ on my Treo. Thus whenever I launch Blue files, bluefang will automatically turn on my BT radio and then automatically turn the BT radio off when I exit blue files!! That is very useful imo!!!

Your physical location is irrelevant. The link is in the original post of the thread.

I tried bluefang for a short time, but in the end I gave up on it. I couldn't get it to work properly with a bluetooth headset. I could tell it to turn on bluetooth for the phone application, but it wouldn't always work, and when it did work it took way too long for bluetooth to turn on. However, I also use bluetooth to hotsync and it did seem to work very nicely for that. If you don't have a bluetooth headset then bluefang should work quite nicely for you.

I've had issues with Blue Fang on my Treo 650. A phone call would come in while BF was enabled, but the BT radio was off. A window would pop up telling me that the BT radio was off and if I wanted to turn it on. But, it wouldn't ring until I responded. Thus, if the phone was in my pocket, I would lose the ring.

Frankly, the only aspect of BlueFang that I found useful is the On/Off Bluetooth icon on the Command Bar - I actually use it from time to time, so I've kept the app.
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

I've found this to be the case also. VERY annoying. But like Bill says, the command bar BT icon is useful.

Can someone post an older version of Blue Fang? I've tried the latest version (1.7) and it reports as incompatible with the 650. I see others here have had success using earlier versions...

Thanks so much - I'll give it a shot now. I'm amazed at the quick reply, by the way - it's much appreciated.

[edit] Works like a charm - thanks for the assistance. [/edit]
