This is not the first time this has happened and I have no idea what the problem is.

I turned off my wireless last night (Friday) because I wanted my alarm to wake me up, but I did not want to receive any calls. When I turned my wireless portion back on this morning, all of a sudden EVERY voicemail from tuesday onwards came .

Now I had no notification whatsoever that there was any voicemail at all before last nite. In fact, I'd been waiting for a call from somebody for the past few days and figure she'd leave me a message if she didn't get through to me. Sure enough, this morning there were 3 messages from her starting on Tuesday among other random voicemails.

I dont know if this is a T Mobile problem. A Treo 600 problem or a PalmOne problem, but I didn't pay this much money on a phone to not have my voicemails when they come through.

Does anybody know if 'rebooting' the wireless portion occasionally is a necessity? I've only done it when I wanted to not have the phone on, but the pda functions still enabled. But otherwise, I rarely turn off the wireless portion.

I am just livid that this happened. Anybody experience similar??

Yes, that happened to me too and I called T-Mobile and gave them hell. It seems that sometimes, although we can still make calls, our phone loses it's registration on the T-Mobile registry and so voicemails pile up until you turn the connection off and on again, i.e. reregister. So I was told to periodically turn off the phone connection for at least 30 seconds to make sure I'm registered. When that happened to me, I don't think I'd EVER turned the phone off. Although I still don't remember to turn the phone off every day, it hasn't happened again.

    Enjoy!

Thanks. I called T mobile too this morning. They basically said what you said and that you sort of have to 'reboot' it by turning off the wireless function for a minute or so, from time to time. I remember this happening to me a few weeks ago also. I guess I 'm going to have to just do that every day or so. Rather annoying.

Also I just realized today that when I have my phone connected to the recharger, it will not show me when call is coming through. It will go straight to voicemail. It will ring 3 times, but I wont hear it, nor does it flash on my screen. Is this something others notice? (I'm learning things all the time even though I've had this device 2 months). I tend to leave my phone in the recharging mode often during the evening and I wonder if this is just a fluke, or if it's something I've never noticed before.

It seems you and I are in the same boat. That just started happening to me last week. Let me guess - you originally signed up with VoiceStream right? Apparently, the old VoiceStream SIM card you have in your phone does not work well with the brand new T-Mobile service software (you'd think they'd have warned us...). You've got to go to a T-Mobile store and have them give you a new SIM card and all will be happy. Note that I had to wait 2 hours before my new SIM card would work, so plan on being down a bit after inserting your new card.

    Enjoy!

yikes. I dont even know what Voice Stream is?? lol.

I do have TMobile though, but I haven't a clue as to what Voice Stream is.. Better go look that up I guess. Thanks.

I don't think it is soley a voice stream issue, nor a sim card, I have been problem solving this voicemail nightmare for a month with an associate of mine with a 650 on T-Mobile.

The new SIM card solved my direct-to-voicemail problem immediately (well, once it was activated 2 hours later). It's a cheap fix to try.

    Enjoy!

From what I understand, VM is a different piece and is routed seperately from Calls. The server that holds your VM info can be located in another state for example, and can occasionally 'lose' you on the network. Once you re-register (turn the phone off, then back on) onto the network, you should be fine again. This is why it's a good idea to power cycle your phone every so often (some say every day to be safe.)

Most carriers seem to work this way and have the same problems. I'm not on TMO, but I've had it happen when I was, as well as with Sprint. I've known people who've had the same problems on other carriers, so I wouldn't dump a carrier for this reason alone.

Now as far as soft and hard hand-offs from towers...that's why I prefer CDMA over GSM, but overall it's still a smaller issue.

Voicestream was the name of TMobile when Western Wireless owned it...before selling it. That was when Jamie Lee Curtis was their spokesperson...when they changed hands, the German owners wanted a more 'universal' appeal and opted for CZJ.

This happen's to me also, and i have t-mo.This is very bad service, because I am on call and need to get my VM asap. I bought a simple nokia, for when I am on call, I cant really on the treo.

I had this happening with ATT/Cingular T600. Their tech support told me to shut down and restart the radio at least a couple of times a week. I normally leave it on 24/7. The tech said a Treo, just like any other electronics, can hang. Problem is we, as the user, don't know it isn't working properly.

Fortunatly, I have an early warning indicator, a wife that calls me constantly. I will normally hear, "Didn't you get my message...." and know I need to reset the radio, lol.

    "I Sync, therefore I AM!"

BellSouth became Cingular, left for ATT, who became Cingular, who became ATT. Is that right?

Why not use TreoHelper (freeware) to switch the phone off at 0400 and on again at 0415?

Today I filed an online complaint (FCC Form 475 - General-Telephone Related Issues) FORM475 with the FCC today.

After several technical support calls to T-Mobile, for a week, they finally told me that they have been upgrading voicemail service in my zip code area since 10/20/05. When my cell phone number is called and I do not pick up the call, callers are prompted to input my wireless number and my passcode. Callers are unable to leave voicemail messages for my cell phone.

When I attempt to access my cell phone's voicemail service from the handset or landline phone, I receive a recorded message that the wireless number is invalid.

I have advised T-Mobile's representatives that their service is inadequate and should have notified customers in my area and that voicemail service would be affected. They offered to provide me with 50 additional bonus minutes. I rarely exceed my voice plan minutes. The T-Mobile Wireless Support representative said there was no estimated timeframe as to when the problems would be resolved. The representative made a comment that voicemail is being reprovisioned in my area.

We have been experiencing problems with dropped calls and delayed receipt (sometimes messages aren't received until days later) of voicemail messages for the past 90 days with no explanation by T-Mobile when I have contacted them for assistance.

I'm just waiting for 11/11 (end of contract) to roll around around so that I can take my family's cell phone needs elsewhere. I was trying to hold out until the end of November, when T-Mobile is *supposedly* making more EDGE-enabled phones available.

The saga continues. Geez Louise.....My voicemail is not working again....BOO!!! It seems it's not just my problem. I called T-Mobile tech support and was told that the voicemail problem is affecting Los Angeles, San Bernardino and other areas in California. They said the problem should be resolved by 6am tomorrow. Reminded them that this problem was supposedly resolved for me about a week ago and that it's definitely not a device issue as I had the problem on the Treo 600 as well.

They had the nerve to try to get me to sign up for a new contract. I told them I'm not interested signing up on a new contract at this time because their voicemail system is so flaky. Hmmm, let's see how those J.D. Power customer satisfaction surveys play out for T-Mobile the next "grading period".

Called T-Mobile and got another 50 bonus minutes. Voicemail service is still down. No ETR. I tried to ask the rep if the problem was mainly affecting phones with data access because my husband's voicemail is OK. No response.

I got a call from T-Mobile Executive Customer Service this a.m. They acknowledged receipt of the FCC complaint I filed back in October (see previous post). She apologized for the problems I had been experiencing. As goodwill gesture, they are going to credit my bill for December for mine and hubby's phone = $0 due. Monthly bill is usually between $160-200/month.
