I hoped that after the update I will be able to use my 650 with my new bimmer, but I guess I was wrong. I have a 05 325i and I'm getting the endless resets after the phone pairs with the car.

Can anybody post their experiences? Btw, I'm running firmware 1.28 unlocked GSM.

I posted something about this yesterday with a sprint PCS 1.12 upgrade and my X3. I actually have less functionality now, and the phone menu won't even come up now. Grrr.

The issue with BT and BMWs that causes resets is the presence of "extra digits" in favorites. If you make sure your favorites do not have extra digits (hit the more button on the edit favorites dialog), the Treo won't reset when it pairs with a BMW BT.

I have a 2005 525i and have been using BT on the 650 (GSM unlocked) successfully. I tried putting back the extra digits in a favorite after the upgrade and it still had the problem.

My research has shown that the 650 will work with some models of the BMW 5 and X series. Nothing I've been able to do has made it work with my 2005 325i, however. I'd be interested to hear if someone's been able to get them to pair.

My 2005 330xi did not work at all with my Treo 650 using version 1.08. I got the continuous reboot on the Treo upon pairing. After 1.12...it works flawlessly.

This is encouraging. I just realized Im still on Sprint's version 1.08; I'll upgrade to 1.12 today and retest. Thanks for the update.

I updated my Sprint 650 to 1.12 this evening and successfully paired my 2005 325i with the device. This is very good.

One question (so far): The first favorites page is Voicemail, with a Quick Key of 1 preprogrammed for it. The BMW phonebook shows a 1 for the voicemail phone number instead of the ten digits of the device. There doesnt seem to be a way to re-program this on the Treo; does anyone know a way to access the voicemail speed dial entry without having two of them?

Thanks, and thanks for the tip on the ROM update.

This seems to be another bug in the implementation, I see this as well.

So for now a workaround is to add a duplicate voicemail entry with no quick key number assignment?

Unrelated question: how does one place a phone call from the car when not using a phonebook entry? Dial from the phone and then press the handsfree button on the steering wheel?

Just dial from the phone. It will automatically be transferred to the car. To just use the phone, hit the cancel handsfree button that appears on the phone app.

After a week of using the Treo 650 in my 2005 325i, I couldnt be more happy with the pairing, volume, and sound quality. Thanks to Palm/Sprint/BMW for finally working together.

I have a 2005 M3 and also get the endless resets. I am on firmware 1.23 on an unlocked GSM and tried removing the extra digits to no avail.

I'd like to try the upgrade if others have had success on their BMW. From the reports I've read the latest FW seems to create additional problems and 1.23 is working fine for me (sans the BMW BT).

I have been using my unlocked GSM 650 with my new 2006 330i (E90) with FW 1.14 and it works amazingly well. I am worried about updating the FW because I don't want to screw up my working setup.

I'm encouraged by rfg17's experience. Anyone else had things working before and after the GSM unlocked update?

Note that the Sprint update officially supports BMW while the unlocked GSM update does not mention that.

I have the Sprint Treo 650 paired with my wife's BMW X5 '05. It works when it works! My problem is that it takes time to get them to see each other after the phone and the car have been turned off and back on again. Simply making a call doesn't always transfer to the car the first time. I have to make 3-8 calls before they start working together. The problem gets worse if I've used my bluetooth Treo headset in the meantime. When I get back in the car, and make a call it seems like the Treo is still looking for the headset which I've turned off or left at home. This problem is not limited to the BMW. Sometimes I can't get the phone to communicate with my headset and end up having to re-pair the two. Then it works fine. All of this is after the Sprint 1.12 update. The headset problems existed before and after the update. The BMW wouldn't work at all before the update and now works great (when it works) after the update. My wife uses a Motorola V551 that works perfectly in her BMW every time! I haven't had to re-pair it a single time. So it seems like the sporadic problems with the Treo are due to the way Palm implemented Bluetooth on this phone. Shouldn't I be able to get in the car, turn it on and have it see the phone immediately? Shouldn't the car transfer the first call I place from the Treo automatically? Does this work for anyone on the first try in the morning?

do you know what BMW ULF model numbers you guys are using?

There are 5 generations of BMW ULF modules, and I think that getting it to work varies with the module number
