Ok I give up. i have been searching for hours now for a program for my treo 650 which will give me information about movie showtimes in a particular area (without going to a website), and perhaps info about the movies. presumably such a thing is possible. but i cannot find it. there is a widget which does this quite nicely for mac os x tiger called Marquee.

anyone ever think to "steal" widget ideas and make them for palm. they are nothing more than a webpage i hear. treo should be able to do that.

    thanks in advance,
    michael

I use Avantgo for this... Not sure if you want to go that route.

honestly i couldn't get avantgo to do anything. my philosophy is if i have to read too much to make it work, it ain't worth it. so i uninstalled avantgo about 20 mintes after installing it. maybe, just maybe, i will try it again. i use quick news for what i was wanting to do with it anyway.

I know that VeriChat has a bot that can do this. Might be overkill if you don't use IM.

Instead of add on programs you can text to Google (46645) and ask a quick question and get the answer back in text. Check http://mobile.google.com/ for mor info.

or try going to the mobile google site & typing "movie: 90210". this will bring up a listing of all movies in that zip code. or try "movie: star wars"- you get the picture. this works from desktop too.

What I use is mNews and put the RSS feeds from this site into mNews and I can get updates with movie times, etc. Or you could use QuickNews and probably get the same or similar results.

Checkout the lenard maltin movie guide:

Also, why don't you wan't to go to a website? I use moviephone but there are several mobile optimized movie times/listing sites:

    http://palm.moviefone.com/

    http://www.hollywood.com/avantgo/

    http://www.moviehabit.com/handheld/

I'm new to the whole RSS thing. Could you give me a url to plug into mNews to list currenly playing movies? Ideally, I would like to view them by zip code.

Go to THIS SITE and hover your mouse above the orange XML buttons and look in the bottom left corner of your browser, it'll give you a link that the button links to. Type this link into mNews and it'll sync with that site and download the relevant info to your mNews.

Let me know if this is enough info.

Does this have showtimes for local theaters?

How often are updates available (to add the latest movie releases)?

How long (lifetime?) will I be able to update this way?

Sounds like a great product ...

Is there a mobile version of IMDB? that is my favourite movie web site by far ...

If I could get an RSS feed of local movie times in QuickNews on my 650, and not some stupid summary with links, I might actually use the program.
