    Hi to all of you,

I just received my new free headset from palm.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. When I switch
on bluetooth on the Treo 650 and click device setup
it won't find anything. I did all the steps the manual told me,
but no luck. I also tried to install it on my PC (Belkin USB adapter)
and this also can't find any device. On the headset itself the
blue LED is flashing like it should do.

So is my device defective or is it me doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance for your help

    Best regards

    Thomas

The headset needs to be put into "pairing mode" in order for the 650 to initially find it. Check the headset manual for how to do that.

Yes I did and you didn't specify that you had done that, so I simply pointed it out for you.

If your Treo Headset light is flashing, it is not in pairing mode. It should be solid blue in pairing mode.

During my play time looking for the "perfect" headset to match my Sprint Treo 600 with a Jabra A210 bluetooth adapter, I have noticed pairing issues with each of them. I have purchased six models, returned and subsequently stuck with two of them, the Motorola HS850 and Motorola HS805. Some pair well but do not stay paired, some turn themselves off (go into inactive mode) and do not re-activate like they should when a call is received (does not recognize the MFB), some are overly sensitive, et cetera.

It's been a pain buying, returning, et cetera. The Motorola series for mysetup pair well, though the HS805 does not want to always pair on the first try. The HS850 is very, very sensitive, so I have a heavy piece of tape over the microphone, which I have also done on the HS805. Other issues include weight, comfort, and so on. So, if it is not in the pairing mode, it will not work and it just might be one of those headsets that do not work at all - the Plantronics M2500 refused to pair for me.

Sorry about the rambling. Some things work, some things don't and some things like the Treo 650 are just plain...and to think I want one.

    Ben
